I think you'll find that water based lubricants are the most popular because they are the most versatile and available. I think oil based would actually be less popular than silicone based as well, at least at EdenFantasys.

Always buy water based!! It is safe to the body, it is compatible with all materials of sex toys, and it works great!!

We're the exception - we always use a vegetable oil based lube. Years ago we stated with a vitamin E/almond oil and just got use to the great slippery action. We changed to silicone for a while - then when we started buying silicone toys we went back to oil. The one we use now is a combination of Shea & Cocoa butters - it works great - is long lasting and leaves your skin feeling fabulous after the fact.

I only use water based lube as a lot of my toys can only deal with the water based ones.
I use to use oil based but I didn't like the fact that it sometimes took a couple of days to expel all of the oil residue out of my body.

Oil doesn't leave too much mess compared to silicone (as long as it's not petroleum-based), but water-based can be used on everything, so it's a bit more convenient.

I've never used an oil-based lube and I don't want to use one. I've heard they're difficult to clean off, which is why I don't use silicone lubes very often, either. 9 times out of 10 I reach for water-based lube.

We've used many water-based lubes, and have never had a reason to switch to silicone-based. They work so well on everything!

Water based. Haven't yet tried an oil based and I'm not really interested, water and silicone satisfy all my lube needs.

Water based lubes are safe for condoms while oil based lubes are not. Silicone based lubes would ruin my toys. So I just stick with water based lubes. Plus I don't like the feel of oil.

One thing I notice about oil lubes that's nice is that it sticks to the silicone instead of beading up.

Water-based are undoubtfully safer for both your body and toys. They are also safe for condoms, as I know. Moreover, it would be such a disaster for me to clean all the bed sheets after using oil >___<

After an oil spill you want to use some sort of pretreat, either with dishwashing soap or Spray-and-wash, to make sure it comes out.

I have and use both depending on the situation. For vaginal use usually just water, but for anal I go back and forth depending on the activity/toy/etc.
