I am no expert. In fact I have never tried a silicone based lube because of potential compatibility issues. I do believe though that a silicone based lubricant will last longer than a water based one. The best thing to do would be to read some reviews on them and get a better idea how each lube is different. Not all silicone or water based lubricant manufacturers are the equal.

Having tried both I would say that I prefer the water based lubricants, though the silicone do indeed seem to last longer!
