How important is a pump for your lube? We have 8 oz lubes coming out this fall which will have pumps. However, we were wondering if people would be happier if the 2oz and 4oz bottles also had pumps?
Would you be more apt to buy a similar in price/quality organic 2oz or 4oz lubricant that came with a PUMP, vs. one that did not?

If they were lockable pumps, that might work out, but in general I don't like having pumps for any sort of gel or cream. The stem/straw of the pump typically falls short of the bottom of the bottle and when the product goes down to a certain level, it can't get to what's left in the edges of the bottle, and quite a bit is wasted.

Exactly. Plus if a pump isn't used for a few days, the material towards the end of the pump that's been exposed to air for a while gets clumpy.

I also do not generally like pump bottles because they don't travel well. Even the ones that "lock" tend to leak if not stored upright; whereas, a flip-top seems to stay sealed and I can just throw it in my bag and go.

I have to totally agree with all of the above. I like the pump for home (larger size) but the few times I attempted to travel with it, it was a mess.
Never been able to get the pump to lock..same with lotions.

I like four oz bottles with pumps, a la O'my flavored lubes, but I think it would be overkill for a two oz bottle.

Ditto what Miss Cinnamon and merinus said. I don't care about travel-ability. I likely wouldn't buy a 2 oz bottle of lube.

I would be much more apt to buy a 4oz bottle with a pump top. On a 2oz bottle, it would be fine, but, not necessary and also possible more pain than its worth with respect to amounts left at bottom and leakage.
I have never had any issue with pump top leakage during travel, but I am freakish about keeping the caps, and I am always equipped with ziplock bags anyways. I've had more lubes with flip caps leak on me...

I completely agree with this. Ideally (especially for larger bottles), I would like to have a screw-on top option: one with a cap, one with a lockable pump. That way it would be travel friendly, but also convienent for at home fun

I put yes, but honestly I have never tried one with a pump, but being organic would be interesting to try out!

I agree with having pumps that could be locked. I like pumps because I don't want my hands having to deal with different caps. Sometimes, you need lubricant in a jiffy, so it is much more convenient.

Oooh, that sounds like a great idea--make it easily portable!

I personally voted no because I like pumps for the larger sizes, but smaller lube bottles are probably going in a bag or purse, where the pump would just take up room.

I think in the smaller sizes, it is totally okay to not have pumps.

I'd be happier of all lubes came with pumps because it's a pain during foreplay when some lube is needed and it takes that much longer to try and open the bottle.

Yeah, I love pump lubes.
09/14/2010
Smaller sizes can come without pumps and that is ok

For 4oz and up a lockable pump is desirable to me. It just makes things so much easier. But if the pump isn't lockable don't bother at all.

We've tried lubes with and without pumps, but ones with pumps don't travel as well. We've found that ones that have lip-top lids or screw-on lids seal better, and travel better. Pumps can be a nightmare if they leak in storage, or in a bag/luggage.

I've never used a pump so I wouldn't know.
11/11/2010
Pumps are so much better
11/11/2010
I'll have to agree with some of the others a lockable pump would be great. Perhaps not for the smallest size. You could always have one pump bottle for home and a pop up top for travel
11/28/2010
I prefer to get an 8 or 16 oz bottle with pump. But I can't see a pump being worthwhile on very small bottles.

4oz perhaps, but I don't think a 2oz bottle would be improved by a pump

Pumps certainly are handy but I wouldn't buy a lube just cause it has a pump. But I do LOVE the organic lubes. I'm converted!
12/20/2010
pumps are easier
01/18/2011
Not for a 2oz bottle but anything over that would be good.
01/21/2011
I would buy a bottle of lube with a pump over the same lube without it. I haven't had any trouble with lockable pumps leaking. The boyfriend bikes over with a pump lube in his backpack all the time and nothing messy has happened.

Pumps are the best thing ever. I think it might be novel to have a teeny pump top for 2oz bottles... or something similar to the flatter pumps for moisturizers/make-ups.
