Do You Think This is Sexualizing Animals?

I don't really like that this product exists on Eden, and in the EoC it says that animals will not be sexualized throughout the community. I wonder if this does?

Um, it is under gag gifts so I don't really think that it is sexualizing them. I mean, sure a small percentage of people who buy the gift might be buying it for that, but I do think that it is more for laughs like it is advertised.

Agreed. With it's goofy cartoon makeup job and the overblown "body," it just strikes me as a joke thing. Now if it looked like it came from a taxidermy shop, that would be another story.

I'm honestly not sure why it exists on EF. I can't imagine they sell too many, but it does make me giggle. I'd imagine that most people would be buying this more for the giggle factor (I keep thinking about buying it just to put under the blankets in the bed to scare the boyfriend, but I'm too lazy to blow it up.). It made me a bit uncomfortable when I first saw it, but it's meant more as something to giggle at then use.

oh, this is funny. i wouldn't say it sexualizes animals at all.

it's just off the old farm boy joke that has been around since the 1800s or maybe later....

It absolutely does. But then again, we seem to sexualize everthing these days and no one with a voice wants to speak up about it.

I don't mean this in a confrontational way, but I think you're making more out of it than needs-be. It's listed as a "Gag" and "Novelty" and "Party favor." Sure there are the rare few that would use this as a sexual device, but there are people who use hairspray bottles and remote controls as sexual devices. I find that those people are in the minority. As long as no one is explicitly describing their sexual experiences with the goat (or the pig, or the cow that are also for sale), they are not in violation of the EOC.

I do appreciate your sensitivity to animal rights and your abhorrence to sexualizing animals. And I do agree with Yoda in that there is an epidemic of silence in our society to speak out against offensive things, and in that I applaud you, but I think there is a better way to address your offense at this product. Perhaps sending an email to the appropriate person, perhaps Victoria, would be a more effective way of seeing your needs met. Personally, I tend to simply not look at the things that are "offensive" to me. (i.e., like going to websites that sell completely outrageous (to me) types of sex toys.)

No and I also don't agree that we as a society sexualize everything. Or at least, we don't without in the same breath demanding it be repressed. This is probably a topic I should stay away from, I've already railed on my sister this morning. And seeing as I like it here, I should probably keep my opinion to myself.

You reminded me of something, just in case you're still reading. I do not agree with Yoda that we are sexualizing everything, only that there is a problem with people speaking up about things. I completely agree with you, however, in this statement:

"Or at least, we don't without in the same breath demanding it be repressed."

That is truly the problem in our society....

No it's a gag gift and sheep don't actually look like plastic. I, personally, LOVE that this is sold here at EF. It shows we have a sense of humor and it's adorable. Toys shaped like animals do not sexualize animals...and for some women it makes having a sex toy easier to accept.

Absolutely. I swear, I would have been much more successful in the days of Roman Empires. Those people knew how to party.

Right, I can think of at least three dildos I've seen on this site that resemble a canine penis more than a human one.

It's true--it does say in the EoC that animals will not be sexualized but as others have pointed out, this is not the case here.

1. It's a gag gift and not meant to be taken seriously. Though I'm sure someone has used this in a serious and sexual manner.

2. It's not a real animal. The statement in the EoC is meant to dissuade people from talking about acts of bestiality with real animals.

Depends On weather or not you have a sense of humor.

As previously mentioned it is listed as a gag gift. I thought it was hilarious when I opened the page and saw it. I don't think many people would actually use it. If they did it does teeter close to the line but ultimately its a piece of plastic. I don't see much difference between using it and a human like blow up doll. Do people actually use those anyway? Never mind different topic.

I didn't think I was being overly passionate about it. I just think it's taking the novelty out of context.

I mean, there's nothing remotely sexual about the thing. Just like there's nothing remotely sexual about this or this or even this

So are pocket pussies oversexualizing women? Or dildos oversexualizing men? I mean, isn't that what part of some people's issues with sex toys and porn is? That it oversexualizes the other sex? I think what I'm passionate about is people making more out of something than there is.

AMEN! That was my thought process yesterday, well if a piece of plastic sexualizes a sheep because it looks like a sheep...well what about realistic sex toys? Reminds me of when I was in middle school and the high school kids joked at the bus stop about women being cum dumpsters. Now THAT is disgusting and wrong.

Especially when the author of the post has not come back to reply to anyone to either defend their position or to agree with points made, etc... leads me to believe this was spam to begin with and we just all fell into it. Like sheep. PUN INTENDED.

Baaaaaah! I assumed it was point farming. They posted a couple of other things too. That's something that has always burned my hide, if you post something you better be able to defend it or at least discuss why you can't defend your argument and oh I don't know, maybe learn something from it?

Totally a novelty, in my opinion. How many vibrators are called jack rabbits, eager beavers, beaded butterfly, diva dolphin, white stork, action seahorse and the deluxe bird.....a lot....well you get the point. Yet they all have absolutely nothing to do with the "real" animal or insect. Only plastic and meant to be laughed at.

Nope. Not spam. Not point farming. I really don't like the sheep, or others. Also, I've been very busy the past few days and haven't had a lot of time to get on here. I understand everyone's point, but my opinions are my opinions. I do appreciate so many answers!

Didn't mean to be offensive. There's been a lot of spamming/farming on questions like this one recently, so we're all a little jaded, I suppose. No offense meant.

You are right, and you are entitled to your opinions. Personally, I don't care for any or at least the majority of the novelty items, so I just don't really search that section of the site. I really don't enjoy looking at dildos or pussies (toys) that have fake pubic hair on them... so I don't look at them.

I'll speak for a couple of people here and ask, "Why are you so up in arms about a vinyl novelty when it's not even a live cast?" I could understand if you were wondering if a live-cast horse or dog (or sheep or monkey) dildo was over-sexualizing animals. I would understand if you felt like it violated EF EoC at that point too. I guess I'm just not understanding your issue with a slightly offensive pool toy. (that's just me...) If you could kind of elaborate beyond "I don't like it," I think people would (I know I would) be very appreciative. It would help us understand.

I agree with others it's a line Eden shouldn't cross. - Gag or not. Even in the sex community, there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed.

It's a gag gift. Some might use it like that, some might not. Just like the toys out there modeled after horse and dog dicks. Hell I buy and use them (the dicks because I am female obviously, lol). Silicone horse cock is awesome, applies good pressure. But is it bestiality? No, you're not committing the act with a live animal, just a piece of silicone. And this toy being talked about is just basically an inflated bag with stuff drawn on it to make you think it's an animal.

While some may not like it, it's a niche out there, and others will capitalize on said niche.
