Lelo Massage Oil Scents- Which is best?

Contributor: Breas Breas 12/25/2012

I'm thinking about getting one of the Lelo massage oils but not sure which scent I should get. I have no idea what any of the scents would smell like so I figured I'd just make a poll and go with the one that the community suggests.

I haven't tried these, so I'd like to know the best scent as well.

I've only tried the lily and musk, and me and my boyfriend at the time did not think it was a good scent. We thought it smelled like old lady perfume. I'd like to try the clove and amber one

That's actually what I'm worried about (the "old lady perfume" scent) lol.

FallenAngel did a review on the set that may be able to help you when it comes to scents

They all smell pretty nice; the Fresh Lily & Musk smells like, well, lily with some musk, the Spicy Clove & Amber smells warm and slightly spicy, the Balsam Fir & Bergamot smells green and fresh. Again, they all smell nice, they're not overpowering and I don't think any of them smell "old lady perfume" like at all and they don't smell fake or artificial really. However, none of the scents last! The Balsam Fir & Bergamot seemed to last a little longer than the other two, but if you want to use them as an actual scent beyond a massage, well after a few minutes, they all smell the same...a warmish, very subtly spice scent (not like the scent of the Spicy Clove & Amber). Uhm, hah, I don't even know if that's the right way to describe it, it's just warm oil scent left on the skin. And yes, all three smell like that after a few minutes and the initial scent fades (plus the only thing you really smell when sniffing the oil in the bottle is the carrier oils, and that's basically what you're left with, the scent of the carrier oils). It's not a bad scent, just the scents the oils are supposed to be don't last.

I use all three primarily as body oil/moisturizer after bathing/showering. As I said above, the Balsam Fir & Bergamot scent lasted a bit longer than the other two, but I rubbed the Fresh Lily & Musk into one arm and by the time I was rubbing it into my other one, the scent was gone on the first. Sad because I liked the scent. And honestly very sad that the scent doesn't last for how expensive the oils are and how "luxurious" they're supposed to be. Get one if you're really set on getting the LELO "luxury" item. If you just want a nice scented massage oil, get something else. I absolutely LOVE the Jimmyjane Afterglow candles. Yeah, they're candles, yeah you have to light them and WAIT for the oil for a bit so they're not the best for spontaneous massages, but all the ones I have smell AMAZING and the scent LASTS and the oil they produce is awesome as well (I have almost all the candles, regular and special edition, and use them mostly, again, as body moisturizers).

Oh, and as for the gold flakes/glow from the LELO oils? The Spicy Amber & Clove has the most gold in it and made my skin shimmer...for a bit, until it rubbed off on clothes. The other two? They barely have any gold flakes and I couldn't discern any "glow" whatsoever (other than the normal "glow" from having oil rubbed into your skin).

Thank you so much! I'm surprised that the scent doesn't last very long. I love a nice, lingering scent (assuming I like the scent to begin with). There are too many products that have nice scents that only last for a whole 3 seconds. That's good to know about the gold flakes as well. If I were to get one, I'd want it to have quite a bit. That's odd that they don't all have the same amount. Thanks again hun!

I hate ambiguous smells like "musk" and "amber"... nor would I like to smell like a tree. I think I'll stick to the Ono scents (mmmm lemongrass...)

It's true that it's tough to buy anything 'smelly' online! But, for what it's worth, feminine lily and sexy musk sound like a good thing

You should go for all 3... it's a better deal!!!

These massage oils are amazing! They are more muted than most which is a nice alternative to other massage oils where the scents are too overpowering at times. Because they are more neutral and you have to be closer to your partner to really catch the notes, it makes for a much more closer and intimate experience. The massage oils have high quality and premium ingredients and feel amazing on the skin. Whether I wash it off afterwards or not, no other massage oil has ever left my skin feeling so soft. I use it everyday on my cuticles too because they are ultra moisturizing. The gold flakes are a nice touch for when you dim the lights they give off a very pretty light shimmer which really sets a romantic tone and makes you feel very sexy!
