Which of these toy chests would you choose if price were no object, any why?

Contributor: phoenixfire phoenixfire 12/13/2012

I need to purchase a toy chest for my growing collection. I do want something that will lock as I have a young child, but I don't mind purchasing a lock at a hardware store or someplace similar. What I am really looking for is something that will hold a lot of toys, especially floggers, paddles and that kind of thing. I am also interested in purchasing a glass dildo or two down the line (nothing huge, I'm not a size queen) that I would like to store in its' pouch inside the chest. I'm willing to save up a bit for something quality that will really serve my needs, which is why I said price isn't a big deal (though I'm not sure I'd wait for some of the chests I have seen that are $100 or more. I need something sooner than that.)

So, what are your thoughts. Please explain your reasons as best you can.

Thanks for your help, Eden friends!

I need a quality toy chest for my growing collection, something with a decent lock (though I don't mind purchasing one myself.) I need to know which of these stores more, particularly when it comes to bondage toys like floggers and paddles. My ideal box should also have some room for glass dildos in their pouches.

I have them both and love them both. I also have the Devine playchest and that may be better for you if you are storage floggers and paddles. These two would not be big enough for that.

I'd pick the lockable, but neither seem very big to me. I agree with the commenter above; the Devine playchest might be a better choice.

I have the Lockable sex toy case (Purple), I like it but it is smaller than what I thought it would be

i woted the lockable chest - but if you are a toy collector you will need something bigger rather sooner than later.

It will take me a long time to save up enough points to afford the Devine playchest, gorgeous as it is, but I think it may be worth the wait from what I have seen. This is especially true given my specialized needs. I have heard a lot about leather needing to breathe (since it is, after all, an animal skin). Would it be OK to put leather toys in a chest like this, or do I need to leave them exposed to air?

Leather should never be stored wet, but it doesn't need air 24/7.

Leather will eventually get too dry if it's not conditioned regularly, but how one goes about conditioning it is dependent on the type and thickness of the leather. I've read that the falls on a flogger will get crimped if it's stored in crowded conditions, but I have no experience in that particular area.

I dont have any of them. I built my own storage out of some cherry and walnut. Those seem way too small for some thing so expensive and cheaply made.

That sounds awesome and I admire you for doing it, but it just isn't practical for me. I have no work space for a project like that, and I am C-L-U-M-S-Y. Trust me, me with a hammer and nails is a Very Bad Idea Indeed.

I love the look of the corset box, but I don't think either of these are the right size for the items say you'd be storing in them.

Neither, really. But the locking box would be preferable. They have a third container now which looks to have much more room than those two and comes in less... conspicuous colors.

The lockable toy chest is great but it's small. The company does make a large version you can find elsewhere. For some reason, Eden doesn't sell it.

Of your choices here, I'd go with the lockable sex toy case. However, those cases really aren't that big. If you want a designated labelled-as-a-sex-toy- container, I'd opt for the Devine Playchest since it's a lot bigger than either of those.

That being said, I, myself, wouldn't get any of these boxes. They're simply much too expensive for what they are, even if money were no object, I don't think they're worth it. I'd be much more apt to getting a big tool box and a lock for it, which is actually what I'm looking into right now for myself.

The lockable is too small for the things you describe. The Devine is 9.5" long and 5" wide. It also looks about 5" tall. That would hold a lot of toys, but you'll have to measure your toys to be sure.

We keep some of our toys in a bedside table/cabinet and the rest in a locking chest at the foot of the bed (it's mostly full of clothes, with the toys tucked discreetly in with the clothes). We don't have kids, but when we have company, we lock everything in the chest.

When we didn't have as many toys, we kept them all in a locked suitcase in the back of the closet. I like the big tool box idea, too. I like the design and size of the Devine Playchest, but I don't like the lock. It looks flimsy and could fail.

Lockable sex toy case but I'm not sure it will hold a lot of floggers and paddles because these are pretty large toys.

They're both pretty, but look kinda small to me. Maybe it's just because I seem to accumulate bulkier toys or the fact that I store all of my sex stuff in one place (books, condoms, lube, ropes etc), but I feel like I would need a lot more storage than either of those boxes provide. Maybe if they were stack-able...

I think the divine one is more aesthetically pleasing, so I chose that. However, I don't care about things sticking out, and that is clearly sexual in my opinion. However, the other one looks like it could be a number of things, and if you fear people asking what it is I would suggest that one.

I think hubby and I are going to get a dorm locker chest from Walmart or some place similar when we have enough toys that it becomes a strong need. I have seen ones that even come on wheels. I priced one in particular at around $40, which is a lot more affordable.

I post this so that I can help others who may have the same question I did.

I really like the look of the Devine one but I'm probably not the best for opinions on this. I currently don't own either but I'm thinking of ordering the corset one when it comes back in stock.
