SO I've noticed that both online and in person, a lot of women's sex toys are pink, and I've been wondering why that is/why people think it's like that.
I realize the stereotypical colors for boys and girls are blue and pink respectively-but is that just in the U.S or is that multicultural/nation thing?
Granted, color isn't so much important when I consider a sex toy, but I admit, color may have an impact on what I end up buying. My favorite color is a shade/hue of blue personally. I'd probably be more likely to buy a toy that comes in blue, than one that comes in Pink only.

I have no idea why pink is the color so many companies go with, but I get tired of pink pretty easily. I adore blue, though, or darker purples and greens. Silver, black, red, that sort of thing are the colors I just adore. Very classy.
I'm glad there are companies that listen to that and give us toys in all sorts of colors, but I wish it would spread a bit more. Choosing between pink and light purple (looking at you, Evolved, though the newer stuff seems to be catching on a bit) is getting tedious.

Personally, I can't stand pink. But I've noticed many others seem to prefer it.

I think it's a mix of things. Because most toys are intended to be used by girls, and 1. pink is probably the most stereotypical "feminine" color, 2. they aren't that creative, they often end up being pink.
I think part of it is that most of them are probably made by men, as well. I mean let's be honest. So when some dudes get together to make a sex toy for girls and they ask themselves hey, what colors do girls like? They'll obviously come up with pink. That plus, as previously mentioned, men and women alike tend to associate it with femininity. And not just femininity, but like, innocent/youthful femininity. In many ways, pale pinks will make toys seem less intimidating to certain individuals.
Now, to people who are confident and aware of themselves and know their own sexuality fairly well like most of the people on this website, you're going to get a lot more demand for something other than pinks, purples, pinkish purples, purpley pinks. You're going to find a lot more people who are totally confident in being able to say, "pink just isn't my thing. Lime green is MY sexy color!" or whatever color it is you desire.
However, I can totally admit that when I reach for a toy to introduce as the first toy in a relationship, it's usually small, and pink. And I suspect that's for he very same reason most manufacturers make the majority of their toys in pink. Simply put, it's safe. And they'll sell a lot more of them than if they made it in neon yellow.

Dunno. I'm not a fan of pink. Master and I are fond of reds and purples. Red & Purple are actually her signature colors.

Personally, my pet theory is latent sexism. I just won't buy it if it only comes in pink, so they lose my business at the very least.

I agree! Pink is a non-intimidating colour, perhaps that has something to do with it as well? I like pink so I can't complain, although other funky colours are fun too!

Same reason we go into an athletic store and all of our sneakers are pink while the men get a range of colors, why the girl's bathroom stall has a "pink" person on it, why little girls' toys are all packaged in bright, annoying bubblegum colored cardboard. We're imprinted to be everything that pink represents from an early age so they just assume it's our favorite, or at least most feminine representative, color. Bleh, I say!
Also, real men wear pink.

I think pink is the most non-intimidating color they think women would fall back on. Maybe it's also because pink is a generic color to close to "natural" caucasian penises, and why some sex toys are black or brown, they're close to ethnic colors, without being "realistic" and creeping people out.

Although I like pink, I only have one toy that's in pink, the rest are in blues and purples. It really depends on what gender the manufacturers are selling their products to, if the toy's designed for female clienteles, then they'll usually choose pink in their color choices. If the toy works for both genders, then they'll have more blues, purples, browns, etc.

I do the same as you Andro..
I usually go for any color but pink. Pink is just to.. penisy-looking to me. I prefer non-realistic looking toys, hate stereotypes, and LOVE all different colors!

I hate the color pink, I try for any other color but pink. I prefer blue, purple, or red though.

The pink for girls starts at birth when girls are labeled with pink in hospitals. It's the color associated with the female gender. Which, of course, must mean that all girls like it! Clearly not true, but I guess you can't trust a bunch of guys making sex toys to know any better. I do happen to like pink but most of my toys are black.

Pink - it's my new obsession
Pink - it's not even a question,
Pink - on the lips of your lover
'Cause Pink is the love you discover
Pink - as the bing on your cherry
Pink - 'cause you are so very
Pink - it's the color of passion
Ah, 'cause today it just goes with the fashion
I want to be your lover
I wanna wrap you in rubber
As pink as the sheets that we lay on
'Cause Pink - it's my favorite crayon
Pink - it was love at first sight
Pink - when I turn out the light
Pink - it's like red but not quite
And I think, everything is going to be all right
No matter what we do tonight

Stereotypes, mostly. I hate pink, it's just so...bubblegum.
10/19/2011
While I do really like the color pink, I also enjoy the numerous color options that have become available in the last few years. I think it's mostly stereotype, since just about everything else that can be "for men" and "for women" the women usually end up with something pink.

Oddly enough, the Victorians dressed baby boys in pink and baby girls in blue. They thought pink was a "strong" color.... too strong to put on a female child. Grown women usually wore either black or white. Or other dark colors like dark brown, navy or dark green or gray. Red actually at one point was usually reserved for "unfortunates."(ie street prostitutes, in Victorian parlance.)
I'm not sure when the change took place, probably during the sexually open 1920s.
Anyway, there are a lot of pink toys, but many other colors are available, too. Many of my toys are black or pink (I love black toys) but I have some purple, white, metal colored and even a few blue/violet toys.

I think pink is considered a female color but also, I also believe that most sex toys are designed my men (until fairly recently anyway) and pink it is.
Pink sells but I so welcome different colors.

I love pink. It is most likely because pink appeals to most women.
10/19/2011
It's not just pink, it's also pinkish-purple, particularly a light lavender with pinkish tones.
10/19/2011
I don't think any of my toys are pink. I tend to stay away from it though I like the color, just not for my toys. I wish they gave dark green as a color option more often.
10/19/2011
I think it just stems from pink for girls, blue for boys.
10/19/2011
The really funny thing is that pink has been the default girl color for only about a century. Before, blue was for girls (Virgin Mary) and pink was for boys (pale red - far too strong a color for a little girl).
I think the rest of it is lack of creativity, and a basic assumption that girls want "girly" colors. Pink and purple and sparkly, and with cute design motifs, so a woman can feel young and innocent about her giant sex toy.
