I can't say how the Couture is, but my wife really likes her Hitachi. If you do get a Hitachi look into some of the attachments because sometimes the vibrations are just very, very strong. But it's the thing that is guaranteed to get her off when needed.

Will look into the attachments. I doubt she can take the super strong vibs as a beginner.

I just find the look of the inspire much more attractive!

I don't have a Inspire, but from the reviews. It's just as loved as the Hitachi. The Inspire comes in a few different styles too.
The only thing I don't like about the Inspire is the way it plugs in. Over time, that bends, and stops working. I haven't had that issue with the Hitachi.

I have both and I personally prefer the Hitachi. To me, it feels stronger and the vibrations are deeper than the Inspire. However, you stated above that you don't think your friend could handle the super strong power, so I would recommend the Inspire in that case because it starts with lower power and has more options in the strength compartment compared to the Hitachi's two levels of "WOW" and "HOLY WOW".
Though you should also look into whether your friend would like the smaller head of the Inspire or the larger head of the Hitachi, and if she would end up sharing the toy with partners (the head and attachments on the Inspire are silicone and can be sanitized, the head of the Hitachi is some unknown material and a condom, latex glove, attachment or replacement head would have to be added for sterilization). Plus, if she would also like something that's nice as a whole body massager, well, both would work in that case, but the Hitachi is nicer.

Couture Inspire! Stronger than the Hitachi and easier to use because of its size. It's my most used toy (and I own both)

Really? I found the Inspire to be like "Holy Shiz" because it feels like it's going to rumble your clitoris right off your body.

The fairy wand is amazing.

Haha, yea, the Inspire feels so buzzy to me (especially the higher it gets). I never use it because I can't stand it, even though I got all the extra attachments for it as well. I almost didn't get the Hitachi because I thought that if it felt the same as the Inspire (as many people said), then I'd hate it. Thankfully I didn't stay away from it because I've practically stopped using all my other vibes in favor of it.

I am leaning towards the inspire because of the size, power and cuteness but the cord issue worries me. The fact that the hitachi is HUGE seems like it would just be bulky and hard for better pinpoint pressure.

Oh yes, that's another thing I forgot about! If your friend prefers pinpoint stimulation over broader stimulation... the head of the Hitachi is quite broad (though I was surprised to find that it was smaller than I had imagined when I finally got it). Pinpoint stimulation does nothing for me, but I'm not into overly broad stimulation either. Thankfully the Hitachi is strong enough that that part doesn't bother me as much.

There are also attachments that help narrow in the stimulation a bit. There's the Gee Whiz and Gee Whizzard, the Off With Their Head replacement cap, and the Pleasure Dome silicone cover. Though one could simply angle the Hitachi so the edge of the head hits where it is wanted for more pinpoint stimulation.
Plus, you have to look into how much you want to spend (Hitachi is cheaper, but doesn't come with any attachments - you can get the purple Inspire by itself or the pink with attachments, but both are more expensive). Also, as Beck mentioned about the Inpsire above, with the cord, it might not last long. However, many people have their Hitachi for years (some even decades). AYE! Choosing between toys is hard!

Thanks so much for this awesome breakdown. I will look into the attachments and try to read a few more reviews. This is so hard!

CCI is the most powerful massager, and Hitachi isn't all that strong...

Exactly, that's why I rather use my large Fairy Wand for that kind of size, and yup, there is nothing more powerful even among the plug in vroomers than the CCI massagers... So whatever you choose for rabid power queens CCI is the name to go with... ^^

Hitachi Wand.

I like the couture pink inspire set because the head is much smaller and the whole toy is a lot smaller and compact.
10/14/2012
If she she is new to strong wand vibes I would go for the Couture
10/14/2012
Personally I would pick the Inspire. The Hitachi seems like it's too strong and buzzy for me and I like that the Inspire starts off with a gentler vibration.
10/14/2012
I like my Inspire. THe smaller head works well for pressure. I never just hold a toy against me. It's also plenty strong for most people.
10/14/2012
Hitachi and Fairy are wonderful.

I have them both an it is hard to vote! I will list my pros and cons for each.
Inspire
pro- speed control, size, easier to clean, I like the cord I leave it plugged in behind the bed and keep the toy in my drawer and attach it when i use it, size of head, I actually use this most often
con- It over heats and you can only use it for 15 minutes, is rattley, feels a little bit buzzy at highest setting, but is still rumbly enough for me, doesnt feel as well made
hitachi
pro- feels solid and well made, always works, feels slightly more powerful, lovely broad stimulation, it is a classic and the gold standard for powerful toys, option to buy cool attachments
con- SO DAMN LOUD! you might as well make a sign to hang on your door saying "I am masturbating!" heavy and too big, only 2 settings, head material of questionable safety (it is vinyl and cannot be sanitized as thoroughly as silicone)
Both are great toys, but there is no perfect option! Goodluck!

Sorry to confuse the matter further, but if you want pinpoint stimulation you want the wahl 2 speed! It is much quieter than either of these options too!

It really depends on the circumstances. As others have said, the Hitachi is super loud, and in my opinion it's so strong that it's not even pleasant. On the other hand, it'll last forever, it can be passed off as a back massager, it can actually work as a back massager, and it's one of those things that everyone seems to think they want to at least try.
I have the Rechargeable Mystic Wand from Vibratex and it's plenty strong, plus it's silicone and rechargeable. I mostly use it as a shoulder massager because it's just too intense, although now that it has a g-spot attachment I've used it more.
