A small amount of polysporin, neosporin or other anti-biotic ointment shouldn't be a problem. You aren't using it in the quantities you would use lube, just covering the area of broken skin to prevent infection. This tissue turns over quickly, so a few days, using the ointment a few times a day should be fine.

Is ointment safe for vaginal use? I have UTI/yeast infection sensitivity and I'm kinda hesitant to put anything like that down there. less

I, too, get a lot of yeast infections and UTIs and I actually do better if I put a little polysporin or hydrocortisone on rug burn.
They make polysporin with lidocaine in it (It's called Polysporin Pain) and that would be fine in small quantities, too.
