When choosing toys, how much does the color and design influence your opinion?

Contributor: ShadowedSeductress ShadowedSeductress
I find that the look of a toy seems to influence my decision a lot. If the color is different I'm more likely to purchase it over a toy that only comes in pink.

I choose a toy that looks better over one that performs better
The look doesn't matter if it's an excellent toy

Ugly toys are less appealing, but function is the important part.

Really don't care much on how a toy looks but more so on how it works.

Looks are fairly important to me, but if its a super powerful toy, I will look into it.

Look at the Hitatchi Wand... It's not a very "pretty" toy, but it is a favorite for many women.

How it looks is important but how well it works is important too.

I would got with the look over the color hands down. However how it works will win out every time.

Gotta be functional first of all, and I can't stand an ugly toy. (Being kink toys, so it's important that they look appealing.)

With kink toys, yeppp, but pretty much I can handle an ugly toy what I don't have to look at if it is sooooooooooooooooo incredibly amazing! ^^

Looks are definitely not everything. Function is key, but doesn't make up for an ugly toy.

Appearance is more important for some toys than others (I like my bondage gear to have a certain look while I'm less picky about inserted toys because those aren't going to be seen much anyway). That being said, I'd never overlook a serious design flaw or lack of functionality just because I liked the way something looked.

I try to compromise between good looks and function, luckily these do exist (thank you Lelo/Jopen/etc). But....even if something is reviewed as SO AWESOME, but butt ugly, I will definitely pass it up (ie. the eroscillator.....that thing will never enter my cart).

The design definitely influences me more, but a great colour can make me buy something I think I might like.

My priority is the design/function of a toy, looks are secondary, and color option is last.

I do like the look of a toy...but it's not the deciding factor.

look matters a lot, I won't buy it if it's ugly, but I won't buy it ONLY because it's pretty either

I definitely agree that function is most important. It is sad when a gorgeous toy is later reviewed to be pretty crappy! I can't imagine purchasing one just because it was pretty even if it sucked. If I'm trying to decide between two and one is prettier and only slightly less in performance then I'll probably go with that one

I feel the same way about the eroscillator. I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on something terribly ugly. To me it looks like a surgical tool or torture device. No thanks!

A major flaw in a pretty toy is a dealbreaker, but even then, a toy that seems to perform very well, but it's ugly? I can't get behind that, either. A toy has to be both pretty and functional. If it's ugly, I just can't do it.
