This has happened to me twice... The first time I nervously made up some excuse as to why I couldn't have sex with the girl I was with. The second time, things started getting hot and heavy between a girl and I. She undid my pants and started a bj... after a minute or so she looked at me and asked if I was too drunk to get it up, I told her I was. She said "That's okay, we can continue this tomorrow." And so we did. On her apartment balcony. LMAO. Good times.

Basically when a guy gets too drunk, it becomes nearly impossible to get an erection. For some guys anyways.

I'll explain with science!
Alcohol is a blood thinner and affects your heart rate and blood pressure. Take your pulse and pressure some time while you're drinking, it will be noticeably higher than usual. It's usually not enough to cause alarm, but when you're completely shitfaced out of your mind, both your heart rate and bloodpressure skyrocket. Although your blood flow is increased, the oxygen content of your blood is lowered and replaced by the toxins from the alcohol, which is why you become dizzy and dull when you drink too much. On the more severe side, that lack of oxygen to the brain can also impair bodily functions, which could cause inability to restrain urination and bowel movements, AND the ability to achieve and maintain an erection.

Everyone is different though. Some people start stumbling and slurring their speech when they just start buzzing, but they aren't going to blackout and could probably still get hard since their BAC isn't at a toxic level. But have you ever been so drunk that you're likely going to puke and black out? If so, I'm sure you were thinking less about sex, and more about where the nearest toilet and bed is, IF that. And if you did try having sex, even if by some miracle you got hard, you wouldn't be able to put that strain on your body without passing out.
I have experienced whisky dick, but for me, it was more of a mental thing thanks to my ADD coupled with the booze. Like "Ugh, I'm so drunk. I'm not sure I can... Hmm, I'm kinda hungry"
