Nope, you shouldn't be entirely alone with someone that you just met online. High chance of creepy murderer types. Though it is possible to run into creepers in regular daily life, I think it's still worse on internet dating sites. Besides I don't think that anyone should just do the do with someone they don't know--unless if it's a consensual booty call but otherwise no.

I've had mostly positive experiences meeting people online. Most of them are not creepy, but it is a good idea to meet them a couple of times in a public place before you sleep with them just so you know you will be safe. I'm not someone to rush into the physical part, but I think if that's what you both want than just let someone know where you are just in case something goes wrong. It's no more risky than going home with a someone at a bar or party in my opinion.

I did. I had met her in a public place and afterward she spontaneously invited me to her place, and we subsequently had sex. I saw her several more times, but it just didn't work out.

Sadly, I have. Still currently seeing one of them off and on (and living in the same house as a roommate situation).

I've had sex with someone I met on a dating site and it turned out well. I primarily sleep with women and would probably feel more uneasy about meeting a man in a private place after only chatting online.

I have before, but I would not do it again. Both times were very impulsive decisions when I was really lonely and in a general bad place in life, and I regretted it afterwards. One of the times, the guy was respectable and seemed nice enough, but I just felt really icky afterwards. The other time, the guy and I hung out and drank for a little bit, which was sorta fun, but it led to a not-so-great (or consensual) situation. However, these were people that I hadn't talked to much prior to meeting. They were both CraigsList hookups. I've met other people on dating sites like OkCupid and chatted for a while and then met up and it was great!
