I call it my cooter. If I'm being dirty I might say pussy, but it's always cooter for me. Vagina sometimes, but not very often. I don't use the C word.

I am so silly and awkward about this. I usually say "lady bits," but I feel so silly saying it. My sister always says "va-jay-jay," but she is much cooler than me and I just couldn't pull that off. I have a three-year-old little girl and I struggled for a long time with what name we should use to refer to these parts, and while I sometimes said "lady bits" or "lady parts," most often I just kind of conflated everything down there and referred to it all as her "butt." Then one day she complained while I was changing her that I "got powder in her hole." I almost died laughing. I mean, there's no mistaking what she's talking about! Leave it to her to teach me how to communicate frankly about the female body! I was kind of proud--hopefully she won't grow up to be so shy about these things as her mother!
