What made you write your first product review on EdenFantasys?

Contributor: Jaybird Jaybird
I just posted my first review, and was motivated to do so primarily by the points I'd receive by writing one.
Now that I've finished it and have had it posted, I'm thinking it was actually quite fun writing down my opinion of a product so others might read it and hopefully gain some insight on the item. I'm legitimately looking forward to being able to write more reviews on this site.

How about you guys? Did you write your first review for the points? Did you write it to simply give your opinion of the product? Did you write your first review before the points system was even in place?

(If lots of people started writing reviews primarily because of the points system, Edensfantasys truly developed a great system for themselves. It got lots of people to participate in the site who otherwise would have stayed rather inactive, such as myself. I think that's cool. Maybe I'm weird.)

I was interested in the points and finding things I like. Neither of us (my fiance) were familiar with this type of stuff so it was a good way to learn. I like the sales and I like coming to the forum as well. After reviewing for awhile and getting EU and U votes, I decided to mentor too.

I wrote my first review after we had received our first package and I was exploring the site more. I was interested in seeing all the different things these 'points' were available for. Truly, at the time I had no idea I could use them for orders. I didn't really get what the points meant until I had accumulated around $20 and figured out I could put them toward an order. I wrote a few more reviews and then stopped. I had more items to review, but I didn't want to keep writing the reviews since they weren't received as well as I had hoped. So I got a mentor and starting producing the best reviews I could. So, did it start out with it being for points? Yes. Is it still that way? Not in the slightest!

I've always loved writing reviews bc I rely on them heavily when making my own purchases and also getting points and more connected in the community.

I've been writing online reviews of sex products and other stuff for years and years. When I wrote my first Eden review, I was vaguely aware that points existed, but I wrote the review because I wanted to share my opinion.

I started writing reviews because it was challenging.

I wrote my first review for the points and I figured it was a great way to become a part of the EF community.

I've been writing reviews for a while for other sites. I stumbled upon this site as a buyer and I noticed that the reviews were way more in depth than any other site I was shopping from. So, I decided to write a review for a product I had previously bought because it was lacking reviews. Then, as I was finished, I noticed the little pop up for points and I was enthralled. I haven't purchased from another site since.

I'd love to say it was purely because I believed in the product (which I do!) but I know that the points were a big factor too.

Primarily for the ability to write. The points were not something I trusted at that point yet--was still trying to figure out if Eden was for real. (Pretty silly now, huh?) Of course it is real and honest--but the opportunities sounded so much greater then I had seen on other sites that I was waiting for the down side...there is not one!!

After I found the site and started trying to figure it out, I found where you could request the free assignment for writing the review. That's how I got started, didn't realize until about 6 months or so later that there were even points to be gained I was just enjoying looking around and shopping.

Probably the same reason as most -- I wanted to share my opinion about the toy. I didn't know points were involved, but knew you could get a free item for sharing, so that motivated me to join the review program. I'd been reviewing the entire previous year (but not sex toys, just skincare, health products, etc.) and was probably more excited to get to review toys than any product I'd ever reviewed.

I'd been on the site for a month or so and I wanted to get more involved on it. I was also really new to toys; only having two at that point, so I thought I could provide a newbie's point of view.

My first review was one i had posted a month earlier on a personal blog while i was testing products for Lelo - when i reposted it here it was mostly for the points as i was very new to EF. The feedback is what motivated me over all though to put more time into better, well developed reviews, that are more critical of the item i am reviewing. When i wrote my review for the booty call boot rockets i did it on a 50/50 split - while the points are nice, i really enjoy the feed back on my writing (honestly more so than the points i earned) and knowing i may have helped persuade someone to buy a toy they may enjoy.

Points put me over the edge, but it was also good to put a review forward that people could want

Back in the Stone Age, when I wrote my first review, there were no points. I liked to write, and we were just starting to explore sex toys, so the idea of getting to review them and give an opinion on them was (and still is) cool

I did my first review almost 4 years ago. I just wanted to see how everything worked.

The points, originally, but when I realized how bad the toy was (the ridge on it actually cut me while I was using it) I got it done quick so no one else would make the mistake of getting it!

I wrote them so that people would not make the same mistake I did and purchase the toys that did not work. I hate spending money on something that does not work well.

I wrote mine mainly because I wanted to help others make informed purchasing decisions. Writing a review is only worth 50 points, that's only 50 cents, so to me the points were more or less insignificant. Don't get me wrong, I love points! But reviews usually take me 6 or so hours to write.

I was interested in writing about such exciting things, being involved in an awesome, but small community at the time, and getting free products in exchange was a good part of the deal, too! I then moved on to the affiliate program, but still work as a review sometimes.

Good for you! The mentor thing was a great idea! I have been through it once and may go through another class soon.

I wanted to do one because I wondered what it was like to write one, also my roommate said it was fun, and it sounded more fun than doing my school work.

Well, I had a few reasons. I was certainly motivated by the prospect of points, but I also really wanted to share some experiences I'd had with toys, both positive and negative.

That's one of the things which drew me to this site as well. I quite liked all the in-depth reviews. Didn't think at the time I'd be writing any myself.

This might not be totally related, but after my first review went up I was rather nervous (as I'm sure everyone is at first) about how it would be received. I just have to say that I'm loving the community on this site. Everyone seems so supportive and welcoming, which seems so rare, especially on the internet

I guess that leads me to another point though, which a few of you have also brought up. Writing that review seems to really have introduced me to the community. I wasn't at all thinking about that aspect when I wrote it.

I feel the same way, Jaybird. In fact, I didn't write my first review until 7 months after stumbling onto the site. In that time I had read tons of reviews and felt like I was well informed and could write a relatively complete review for myself but I was so nervous about how it would be received that I held off for so many months.

When I finally decided to take the plunge and write my first review, to be honest, I saw it as a way to get more involved in the community. The points were nice too but they didn't really have that much to do with my reasons to want to start writing reviews.

I was so relieved when my first review was welcomed by other members. It really gave me that sense of community/comradery that I was hoping for. It turns out that I really do enjoy writing my reviews, and reading those of others. I'm just sorry I didn't start writing them sooner.

I wrote my first review just a day or two after I came to Eden. I wanted to share my experience with a toy I had, and also saw I could get points for doing it. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.

I wrote my first review because an item that I had was unwearable until I re-laced it.
