The first toy I ever bought myself was a traditional vibrator. 1" wide, transparent red plastic, and you can see the motor running inside. I still have it even though it is quite old and no longer works!
I didn't count my actual first toy, because it was given to me by a boyfriend, and it was hideous and something I only used once. It was a super-realistic jelly dildo that was big and had huge balls and stunk to high heaven. I've never liked realistic toys, and even though I didn't really have an issue with the material at the time, I certainly had an issue with that smell! Obviously I forgave my boyfriend for the horrific toy though, since I'm married to him now...
