A precursor to Tristan Taormino’s “Chemistry” Series, House of Ass is a gonzo style movie that asks what happens when people stop being polite and start getting naked…

Naturally, when it involves porn stars, a lot of fucking is what happens.

We open with an intro where Tristan explains the premise. We see snippets of candid footage of the players (complete with name graphics, so you know who's who) mixed in with random sex acts that take place later in the film.

Outtakes of cast member “confessionals” and group discussions about sex bookend each scene.

The first segment has everyone talking about oral sex, when Scott Nails comments that performing oral sex on a woman is “pointless”. He is quickly attacked by everyone else for these comments, though they don't seem to cost him popularity with at least two of the ladies in the house, who say they find him attractive in a “bad boy” way.

Um, OK.

Joanna talks about wanting to fuck him and eagerly cleans out a tub for their scene, which is rather boring. The foray into the tub only lasts for only a minute or two (edited down perhaps?) of what is a long (did I mention boring?) scene.

Next, Justine and Sarah deliver a hot lesbian tryst outside on the deck. Both are gorgeous and their enthusiasm shows through in this scene, one of the best in the film.

Sarah says she's never had sex with a person of color before, which leads into some nice POV “perv cam” footage of her giving Mr. Marcus head. After a few, Sarah takes over the cam and films Marcus and Keeani Lee going at it. Afterwards Lee makes silly faces right after swallowing Marcus' load, which is pretty funny.

On day two, one of the couples abruptly leaves the production off camera. Tristan reads a note they left, while footage of the “real life” couple shows them clearly not getting along. The cast reacts with amusement and scorn, noting their “unprofessional” behavior.

More confessionals follow with Marcus and Joanna. She reveals that she also has never had interracial sex, a reoccurring theme here, and Marcus is Black.

Do the math.

This scene (better than Joanna's first) is filmed by Justine on “pervert cam” while she masturbates off camera. We find this out in confessional afterward, a real missed opportunity there.

Jolie talks about how hot the scene was, which leads into the finale, an all girl foursome. This eventually turns into an orgy involving everyone in the house. Tristan cavalierly introduces a replacement couple to everyone while they're fucking. “Introduce yourselves and have fun” she says, laughing.

Bonus features include Behind the Scenes footage of random sex clips, confessionals and other bits that are interesting and amusing. There is also a Bonus Scene that appears to be from another movie entirely, thrown in. Its completely random, but hey, extra porn is extra porn.

Overall, this movie is a good one, that gets better as it goes.

The scenes where Sarah and Justine are featured are the best ones. Their playful enthusiasm and chemistry carry the film, and the scenes they are not in seem robotic and flat.

Also, the title is misleading. With the name “House of Ass” you'd think anal sex would be featured here. A different name, that reflects the concept of the film would have been better.

I came into this a fan of Joanna Angel's but other than a nice view of her ass and shoes while cleaning out the tub she alternately bored or annoyed me throughout the first scene. Had I not gone back later and watched the rest of the film (skipping that scene entirely) this would have been a much different review.

As the featured talent (she's in 3 of 5 sex scenes) she doesn't deliver a good overall performance. I'll be curious to see if her other titles play better.

Joli and Blake deliver in their scenes and I wish they were featured more. Both are performers I will be keeping an eye out for in the future. The rest of the cast left little to no impression on me.

As for Tristan I think her idea a good one, but the execution was off. For a film marketed as gonzo it's a little too planned out. As such, her claim that the performers decide who they have sex with and how, while possibly true, rings false. I am curious to see if the execution and cast selections are better in her “Chemistry” series.

In the end “House of Ass” is fun, if you like candid, quirkiness with your sex. But if you're looking for anal sex or a Joanna Angel feature there are better titles out there.
