Something Different
This is a film shot from the perspective of women. Its all about women picking out men (and a woman) that they've always wanted to sleep with, and then fulfilling that fantasy. It may not be for everyone, but its a good change of pace from most films.

Pros
No lack of foreplay, and the scene intros add a lot of sexual tension
Cons
The female centric focus may not be right for everyone, the male talent is a bit aged
If nothing else, this is a very different movie than what you usually find. It probably won’t go down as my favorite film, but I really respect what they’re trying to do. Hook Ups 10 seems to be trying to add a bit of sexual tension, that many films gloss over or forget entirely. It’s not perfect, but it does a much better job than a lot of films that I can recall.
The special features included are pretty much what you’d expect. There’s your usual behind the scenes, set photos, and star bios. The one thing that did stick out was an extra scene from Hook Ups 9, starring Flower Tucci. Not only was this probably the best scene on the disk, but I felt that it was a nice touch. Generally speaking, the extra scenes included in the special features have very little to do with the actual film, and are just advertisements for other films. This is still an ad for another film, but at lease its related.
The thing that makes this film different is the perspective. It really tries to film it from the actress’s point of view. Before each scene, the leading lady announces who she would like to hook up with, and just what she’d want to do should this happen. Because of this, the male actors(and one female) are fairly high profile, and all get recognition and names. Unfortunately, some of the male stars are a bit aged. Featuring the likes of Randy Spears and Evan Stone, they bring out a slightly older generation of stars. Fortunately, the female talent shines through. It features Tory Lane, Courtney Cummz, Sammie Rhodes, and Holly Stevens. The intro bits lend a lot of tension and setup for the scenes, but they tend to be a little long for my taste. I found myself skipping ahead to the scene on most of them.
The DVD formatting is good quality, good resolution, and the scene skips are well placed. There is actually a really good mix of action. Since they’re trying to keep with the mood, they don’t skimp on the foreplay, and the effort really shows. You really do get the sense that these people want to have sex with each other. The scenes are all one on one, with one rather enthusiastic (and a tad aggressive) lesbian scene. There are some scenes with anal, and the bonus scene with Flower Tucci includes a bit of squirting.
Overall, I liked the movie. I’m not sure if the change of perspective really did it for me, but it’s a good venture into different things. If you prefer adventurous and outspoken women, then this is just the movie for you. More than anything, I respect this movie for trying to bring back the sexual tension, and to mix things up a bit. I’d give this film a solid recommendation.
