Couch Surfers by Trannywood Films - review by carnivalesq

I wasn't prepared for how gay this porn film was. As a queer woman who is turned on by many types of porn, I saw Couch Surfers and thought that this would be right up my alley. I like gay porn. I like dyke porn. I like queer porn. I've seen other porn films that feature transmen which I have LOVED. I expected to love Couch Surfers.

I'm sad to report that I did not love Couch Surfers. I liked it, parts of it, but I did not love it.

This all comes down to personal preference. It seemed to me that many pairings were between similar kinds of guys; big hairy guy with big hairy guy. Not every pairing was like this, but the longer ones definitely were.

I was really impressed that when Ian Sparks goes to fuck Brett in scene 2, he asked for permission to 'fuck him in the front,' an act which is a common boundary among transmen. The movie also comes with a little guide book for 'A First Timer's Guide to Playing With Trans Guys,' which I think is an excellent nod towards education and raising awareness about trans folk.

A Further Note: After I finished watching this I passed the DVD off to my brother who enjoys gay porn and prefers larger, hairy guys, and he watched Scene 2 with Ian Sparks and Brett McCloskey. And he freaking LOVED it. This just goes to show that one man's trauma is another man's spank bank fuel. After watching this, I discovered that I prefer porn with a variety of genders all playing together (Like Seven Minutes in Heaven) rather than just transmen all together. For me, personally, I find it about as boring as a mess of femme women together in a porn. I need the variety, but not everybody does.

Scene 1: THAT SOFA IS MINE, BETCH

Mark Van Helsing and Peter Pleas make out while the opening credits play. Ian Sparks comes in with Lube Boy and awkwardly announces, "That was hot. Thanks for warming up the couch for us."

Mark says, "What can I say?" The two shrug and leave awkwardly. Ian Sparks and Lube Boy steal the sofa. Did I mention this is all really awkward?

Ian Sparks and Lube Boy make out and then Ian Foxe joins them. Foxe gives Sparks and Lube handjobs, which turns into blowjobs, and then turns into full on penetrative sex.

They fuck in many positions but it doesn't seem like it's because it's so good and they wanna switch it up; I get the very real feeling that Ian Foxe is in pain and not having fun. For this reason, I am not having fun. The fucking action is stiff, jerky, and painful looking.

Scene 2: DUNGEON FISTING

This starts with Ian Sparks and Brett McCloskey in a dungeon with cool padded leather tables/beds, chains hanging from the ceiling and a wall soap dispenser style lube dispenser which I officially covet. It's all going fine until Brett starts grunting. Not a fan. The camera angles are low and straight on so we see a LOT of the bottoms of peoples feet which I don't like either.

What I do like is Dex Hardlove, who comes in mid-scene and fingers/fists both men. Oh, yes. Dex Hardlove is tall and not devoid of hair, but he is neat, sleek, and dark.

By the way, the music is made on a Mac in Garageband and is heavy on the audio clip "Acoustic Noodling #5," which is not only distracting, but annoying and repetitive. It's like Muzak for porn. And there's a lot of calling people "Pig," which turns me right off. For people who like the whole "Pig" thing, this is the scene you want right here.

Scene 3: BACK TO THE SOFA

Peter Pleas and Cupid make out on the sofa. They are joined by CJ Cockburn. This scene has chemistry. The guys are into it, they're hairy but neat, and they're hot. It's a busy threeway that moves from sofa to floor and there's fingering, and face-sitting oral before they're back on the sofa for some strap-on sex. I have no criticisms of this scene, but wish that these guys had been featured more in the film, along with Dex Hardlove.

BONUS SCENE: OH YEAH.

Now, the Bonus Disc is definitely one of the highlights. All the guys are hanging around, half naked, some in pink shiny underwear, and all is going well until one steals the hat of another. This starts a giant war, and degenerates into playful fucking. As someone who likes playful porn, bonus points for the silly premise on this scene. However, it's a kind of long weird scene that shifts to a birds-eye-view cam and we just kinda watch the guys jerk off, watch each other, and encourage each other with 'atta-boy' nods. So it starts off promising and ends leaving me feel a little... awkward.
