Boy slapper - paddle by Sportsheets - review by woofcub

Definitely not intended for solo play this paddle enables the user to bring a stinging pain as well as leave an interesting mark on whomever they believe has been a very naughty boy. Not a toy for the faint hearted this paddle has a nasty bite even when wielded lightly upon the bottom of the poor person on the receiving end.

Great for just about any dungeon or even to hang on the bedroom wall this paddle helps serve as a reminder to whomever has had their bottom marked with it that they need to behave or once again be marked with the pain of this paddle as well as a red outline of the word BOY wherever they were smacked with it.

The Boy slapper by Sportsheets is a nice and small leather paddle about 5” long and 2.25” width for the actual paddle surface with a 7.5” long by 1.25” wide handle that’s rounded at the end, much smaller than I had thought the paddle would be yet plenty of room to hold onto and plenty of surface area to leave an impression on the person on the other end.

Overall the Boy slapper is a nice little paddle but even after having it for a short time and a few uses I have noticed a few quality issues but also a few characteristics that I was very pleased with.

To start off the good, this paddle is made with a decent quality leather that’s seems like it will hold up for a long time as long as it is properly taken care of, the BOY lettering is well cut out and smooth on the inside edges, showing that care was taken to buff the inside edges after stamping out the letters. The stiff metal strip inserted in-between the leather layers is well hidden but makes sure that no power is lost when swinging the paddle. Finally a nice metal eyelet with the Sportsheets name is properly pressed into the end of the leather handle for the holding/hanging lanyard.

Now for some of the issues that I have seen so far with this paddle, although the Boy lettering is well stamped out, the inside layer of the leather was not dyed the same color black as the rest of the paddle — which just seems to make the paddle look cheaper. Speaking of the Boy lettering, the red color that is seen in the product pictures doesn’t show that all that is giving the red color is a cheap piece of paper in between the two flaps of leather that make up the slapping area. This piece of paper is exactly what you would expect from paper and is easy to rip and if you get it wet falls apart, the only good part about this is I was able to remove the red paper easily and attach a nice piece of blue leather strip to the solid bottom piece of leather.

Probably one of the biggest things I was disappointed with in this paddle is the stitching, with only a single line of stitching holding the paddle together and not well secured on the end, the thread starting working loose after only a few times using it; although this was an easy fix with a little bit of glue after the stitching was tightened back up. My last issue with this paddle and not even really a big deal was the lanyard webbing that serves as a wrist strap being a bit small for my hand to go through and hold the handle with even my small hands; this can be solved by replacing the material or just not looping your hand through it during use.

As far as any other characteristics of this paddle I would have to say that the leather is nice and smooth though a bit hard and has a nice light leathery smell too it, not overpowering or barely noticeable but just enough to know that it is indeed a leather paddle that is about to leave its mark on you.

Overall this paddle does what it’s designed to do and that’s to both inflict a bit of pain upon whoever is on the receiving end as well as leave some marks that linger for a bit longer after the pain has gone away. This paddle definitely met all my needs and expectations as far as function went but did have a little trouble leaving the imprinted BOY mark. The only reason why this paddle was not able to leave a proper mark was not because of improper manufacture or not being swung hard enough but because of my animal like hair. Unfortunately for me this didn’t reduce the bite of this paddle or allow me to get away without marks as there were indeed marks showing the major outline of the paddle.

Other than its intended purpose as a paddle or perhaps a nice wall piece to remind you or others to behave, which it does a very good job of, I can’t think of any other applications for this paddle unless you plan on removing the dust from your living room rug any time soon.
