This is a heavy flogger designed to provide both a solid impact and a great sound. If you are looking for something a little firmer than your classic suede flogger, then this is the toy for you. If you know you like spankings and a little pain, then this is a great starter flogger; if you are unsure, I suggest dialing it down a bit before you jump into buying this toy.

The thuds of the flogger on skin are a welcome sound for those of you who like a little more sound to your impact toys.

The flogger is well made, and the tails are secured well to the handle. The handle itself is solid with a beautifully woven leather exterior that provides enough padding to make holding the flogger comfortable. Because the handle is solid in construction, it makes it a little heavy to throw for extended periods. This may make this toy more difficult for beginners who have little experience with floggers.

The particular model that was given to me has 21-inch-long tails. However, they offer a variety of lengths. The weight of the tails failed to balance out the weight of the handle, making the toy a little handle heavy. This can take some getting used to if you aren't accustomed to using a toy that is weighted like this one.

Because the toy is made from bullhide, it has the classic smell of all-leather toys. For those who are unfamiliar with leather, bullhide usually refers to leather obtained from an older animal. This flogger is equipped with a wrist strap, which is very good to have on your toys. I didn't know how much I missed them until I acquired several toys that didn't have them. As with all leather products, they clean well but must be maintained with a leather conditioner and keep much longer if good leather cleaners are used.

The tails of this toy are two toned—in my case, red and black—and their design is such that when the toy is hanging, only one color can be seen, giving it the illusion of being a monochromatic set of tails. However, once the first row of tails is moved aside, the second color becomes visible, making for a nice effect as the flogger is used.

The toy works very well. Once you get used to the balance of it, it is easy to swing and there is minimal spread on the tails. This allows for a more precise area of impact, which is good when playing near the face or other sensitive areas of the body.

This toy met and exceeded my expectation for a flogger. The weight of the tails and the construction of the piece adds something completely new to my collection of toys, and it will be used as often as possible.

As with most floggers, this toy can be used as both an impact toy, striking with much of the area of the tails, or more like a whip, striking with only the tips of the tails. The latter provides a much sharper sensation.

As stated above, cleaning of the flogger should be done with a leather cleaner to prolong its life. Also, these cleaners usually have a conditioner in them as well. If your cleaner does not, then you should get one and use it on your leather toys as well. Think of leather like any other type of skin, including your own: if you don't keep it moisturized, it tends to crack and all kinds of bad things happen to it. Your leather toys are no different, so take good care of them and they will last a long time. That said, cleaning doesn't need to be done after every use; unless you get the toy really dirty or wet, it should be fine to be put away and not cleaned.

Leather toys should be stored in a cool, dry place to prevent any mold, mildew, or unnecessary wear and tear to your toy.
