Crave strap whip - whip discontinued by Spartacus - review by Sir

Spartacus's Crave Strap Whip is actually a flogger with tails cut on a bias. The flogger is good for people whose experience levels range from new to "seasoned veteran." It is very lightweight, so people who prefer more heft will not really enjoy this. It is a great flogger for people who are looking for something that's lightweight, easy to handle, and easy to throw.

The flogger has twenty-two tails, each of them being about 14 1/2" long. They're all pretty even, which makes the Crave Strap very aesthetically pleasing. In addition to having even tails (which makes my OCD and perfectionist attitude very happy), the leather is a purple leather that's just gorgeous. My honest to god favorite shades of leather are purple and burgundy, and this purple is beautiful—not too dark, but not too light. It's somewhere in between.

The handle is a wooden dowel with the same purple leather wrapped around it and large, 1/2" diameter rivets along its length. At the end of the handle is an inch of space where the leather is braided instead of laid flat. There is also a metal d-ring which can have a piece of rope or string tied through it for hanging. In total length, the handle is 5 1/2".

Of course, the entire flogger is made of leather. The leather did not really have scent when it came to me, and it's honestly not of the highest quality, but it still a fairly nice leather and it does have that sensual, smooth feel that leather always has. It is a well-made flogger and has not shown any sign of falling apart, but I do not think that it's a flogger that you should bet on keeping for a lifetime (hopefully though, since it is so pretty).

Keep in mind that the leather does shed when it comes in contact with the skin.

I honestly really like this flogger. It's cheap, easy to use, and its tails give a nice amount of bite. I also use it as my test flogger, one that I can try out creative, new methods with without being sad if it breaks or falls apart. I enjoy to fold it over and smack my partner with the looped over part. The bias of the tails also gives a nice, stingy effect, so it really works fairly well.

No, it's not as hard and doesn't have as much of as lasting impact as other floggers that I have, but it still is good as it is. I mean, honestly, the only thing that would hurt more than this at a lower price would be a cane (like Leatherbeaten's Delrin Cane for $18).

In terms of markings, this really depends on how the Crave Strap Whip is used. If you throw the flogger repeatedly, one swing after another, for about ten minutes, you'll probably leave your victim a lovely rouged color. Bruising will not come easily, so if that is what you are going for, I suggest moving on to something else.

To clean the flogger, you can use either a damp cloth with mild soap rubbed into it or a leather cleaner. I suggest using lukewarm water as opposed to hot or cold. For storage, you can either lay it down on a shelf or hang it up somewhere, like in a closet or on a wall. Just make sure to keep it out of damp areas, because the leather will become molded and mucked up.

The flogger comes in a plastic clamshell case with a paper insert. The insert does not cover up the entire front or back of the packaging, so it isn't discreet (regardless of what it has as its design). Its designs are different shades of purple, matching the purple flogger, and it's very aesthetically pleasing. Even the model on the front who is only wearing panties and a bra is very tasteful.
