Having a Ball - or Not

Despite the fact that I like the dildo itself, I think this toy just isn't worth it to me. I may end up taking it apart and using the dildo separately, but the ball is just problematic. I'd rather pass and spend the money on something else.

extremely useful review
When I pulled the Vibrating mini sex ball out of its box, I was impressed by the heft of the dildo portion. It feels larger in person than it looked online, and I hadn't paid much attention to the fact that it has little vein-like ridges along the sides. I had started off halfway curious about the toy, wondering whether bouncing on the ball would simulate thrusting and make the toy an interesting new addition to my toy chest, but at this point I started to get really excited about the idea of playing with it. I was also pleasantly surprised by the ball portion, which had a kind of a velvety soft fabric coating of some sort rather than resembling a black beach ball, the way I'd been expecting it to. There were even little floppy handles on either side of the ball, although I never did figure out how to use them in any practical manner.

The box included several little freebies. There was a cheap little eye mask and a baggie containing samples of lube and toy cleaner. There was also a tiny tube of vinyl sealant for fixing the ball if there are leaks, which had a little label explaining that it is only for use on the seams, so I'm not sure what you're supposed to do if the ball pops a hole somewhere other than a seam.

The ball inflated exactly the same way you'd inflate a beach ball or swim floaties. In fact, when close up, it smelled exactly like a swim floaty as well. I struggled to blow it up, so it doesn't seem like the kind of thing you want to have to do every time you want to play with the toy. On the other hand, the ball is rather large when inflated, so it's not likely to fit well into most toy collections when deflated. I think I would have preferred it if it came with a pump so that you don't have to strain yourself every time you want it inflated.

The vibrator's motor is located inside the ball itself, so a lot of the vibrations are diffused and a lot of energy is expended for only a little impact. The controls are attached by means of a long wire and are a little awkward to handle. They take AA batteries and operate by means of an inset disc that you rotate in order to adjust the levels and turn the vibrator on and off. They're extremely easy to bump. I found the vibrator turning on in the process of putting the lid on the battery compartment and the vibrations turning up and down and even off repeatedly throughout my play session, not that this made much of a difference since the vibrations were diffuse enough that they made little difference to the experience.

Not only was the play session disappointing, the clean up was problematic. The fabric covering on the ball absorbs fluids and moisture, so it's very unsanitary from the sense of sharing toys since there's no way to sanitize it thoroughly or protect it through the use of a condom. Due to this sanitation issue, I also highly advise against using this toy anally under any circumstances. It's also problematic from another standpoint because it'll absorb toy cleaners without washing them off completely - putting chemicals near your skin - and because you can't simply wipe it off to dry it. You're then stuck with the choice of putting it away damp and risking mold and mildew or trying to find a good place to leave the toy until it dries out thoroughly. Because of the rubbery material underneath the fabric covering, I don't think it's a good idea to use a hair dryer or pop it into the dryer, and air drying can take a while depending on humidity levels, so who knows how long that'll take?

All in all, despite the fact that I like the dildo itself, I think this toy just isn't worth it to me. I may end up taking it apart and using the dildo separately, but the ball is just problematic. I'd rather pass and spend the money on something else.
Experience
While the model on the box demonstrates several different positions for using the toy, I think most of them are just for show. The smell of the ball is too much like swim floaties for me to ever want to put it in my mouth, and I found I had trouble keeping the even the tip of dildo portion inside if I lay in a prone position. I didn't really trust the ball to support my weight if I crouched with legs to either side of the ball and rested my weight on it, so I defaulted to kneeling either upright or on all fours with the ball between my legs.

Things started off well. When lowering myself upon it, I really liked the design of the dildo portion. It was of good size and proportions, and I could see myself liking it very much. Unfortunately, that was as far as I can praise the experience. Bouncing up and down on the toy simply resulted in the ball changing shape beneath me as the pressure on it increased and decreased, not in a thrusting sensation, and there was nothing to grind my clit against. Switching to leaning forward on all fours and rocking forward and back on the ball simply resulted in pulling the dildo most of the way out and no increase in sensations. I tried several times with this toy, but there was just nothing about it that did the trick, so I ended up having to pull out my XXL European Purple Twist in order to finish things up.
Follow-up commentary
I doubt anyone was expecting any different after my original review, but I just wanted to let people know that I still haven't found much of anything fun to do with this toy. I wish I could say otherwise, but I just don't like it very much, which seems quite a shame since the idea behind it was such a fun one.
