A Beautiful Disappointment

I love the idea of a remote-controlled high-end product, but the technology just isn't there. The price is just way too high for the lack of performance.

OMG this is going to be so much fun! Well, that's what I originally thought. Lelo is an upscale brand with a price tag that reflect that fact. Surely, if they have created a remote vibe, it's going to be incredible. Not so much. While the product is, in fact, beautifully designed, there are several issues. I had originally thought that this would be a fun thing to do with my boyfriend in public settings. While I contend that the vibe is small and quiet enough to be used undetected in public settings, the remote leaves MUCH to be desired. Before we get into the technological functionality, let's talk about the vibe itself.

This vibrator is a pretty little package. It is made from soft, velvety silicone (some lubes aren't appropriate for this vibe, consult the package insert). It does have some grooves though, so cleaning it is a bit more than a wash-n-go thing. The vibrator is certainly powerful, but in my own experience, it wasn't powerful enough to bring me to clitoral orgasm without actually using my hand to press the vibe against my body. That alone is enough to make me walk past this vibrator. After all, the whole point was to "play" in public - if I am standing in line pressing my hand to my genitals like a child trying not to have a bathroom accident, I think someone is going to figure something's up.

In regards to the remote: HUGE learning curve. The fancy SenseMotion technology is ummmm... interesting. Every movement your partner's hand makes as he or she holds the remote is converted to a vibration. This can lead to very intense and very weak vibrations at the wrong times. Of course, that is how this remote was designed to work. That said, the remote and vibe work that way only when the vibe can pick up the signal which, in my experience, was not that often. The packaging and advertisements say that the Tiani can pick up the remote's signal up to 39 feet away. That was absolutely NOT my experience. I'd say 3.9 feet is more accurate, but even that may be stretching it.
Follow-up commentary
The Insignia Tiani is still the biggest (and most expensive) disappointment in my toy box. While I love, love, love other Lelo products, I think they need more time to work out the technological glitches. It's so terribly frustrating when the unit refuses to pick up the remote's signal.
