Mini waterproof vibe - traditional vibrator discontinued by Cal Exotics - review by lexical

This was my very first vibrator, in light blue. It was a perfect choice on the part of my boyfriend at the time. (He gave it to me for valentine's day, concealed inside a big purple teddy bear with a set of snaps and a small pouch for the toy sewn into the back!) The packaging was very easy to open. There's a short description of the toy on the back of the insert, but there are no directions for the toy, which is fine since it's a pretty straightforward little toy ;) Unfortunately, there's also a creepy naked woman caressing herself on an adirondack chair in the middle of a river...Weird marketing tactic if you ask me!

This is, I think, a fantastic introduction into the world of vibrators. It's small and non-threatening, with a simple shape and a soft, silky feel. It has a dial base and runs on just one double-A battery, with a surprising amount of buzz. I don't recall it having a strong scent upon receiving it. When I first got it, it seemed that the battery lasted longer than it does now. You can tell when the battery starts running out because the toy seems to only have one setting. The vibrations won't start until you reach nearly the end of the knob's turning, whereas normally (with full battery power) you have some pretty good control - with softer, gentler vibrations when you first start turning the knob, growing progressively stronger until you can't turn it any further. The dial base seems to have grown a bit "sticky" and harder to turn with time.

It is fairly simple to clean as it's waterproof, but, in my experience, the rubber sometimes holds the scent of where it's been (inside a body or, for example, the inside of my toy bag.) My body lubricates pretty well naturally, so I don't use lubricants with my vibrators, but since this toy is rubber, a silicone-based lubricant would be perfect and since it often clings to odors, placing a condom over it may be a good choice as well.

One thing I really do like about it is the blunt, rounded tip. I find that that makes it ideal for using for clitoral stimulation, since it's not pointed in the way that some other traditional vibes are. It has little insertable length, so it really is ideal for using externally, but I find that this little guy does a great job of reaching my special spot inside if I angle it just so.

Another fabulous feature of this toy is that it is dead quiet. It can barely be heard from under the covers and if there is something like a fan or the heat/AC in your house running as well, the sound is quite indiscernible.

I think this toy is absolutely great, for what it is - a beginner's toy. If you're experienced in the realm of vibrating sex toys, this is probably not the best choice for you. Honestly, though...I sometimes still come back to this one, just for old times sake. I have had this toy for four years now and it is still a wonderful toy and still gets the job done.

I just have one comment on this little darling. Unfortunately, I've noticed recently that it's been getting a little bit louder. When I hold it at certain angles, it seems to buzz more harshly in protest! However, I've had it for over four years, so I'd say that's a pretty darn good life for something in this price range that has gotten SO much use. This little baby's been loved and loved HARD. I'll never put it down for good until the last little buzz has gone out of it. :) I may even buy a replacement when its dying day FINALLY comes!
