Use

The Icicle Flexi-Q by CalExotics is a bending textured orgasm machine, to put it simply. Meant for vaginal penetration (as it has no flared base and is rather large, I would advise against using it anally), it coaxes you towards climax with a smirk of arrogance. The many features - texture, waterproof, multi-positional, multi-speed, powerful, and quiet - allow you to cater exactly to your desires, making the flexi-q one of your most beloved toys.

Material / Texture

Fresh out of the package, the flexi-q carried a slight jelly smell, but not nearly as bad as some of the other jelly toys I've gotten. After a few washes it went away completely. There was no taste, thankfully.

The jelly itself is very smooth except for where it's meant to not be smooth. The texture is somewhat of an enigma to describe. Aside from the partially bulbous and smooth head, six large and plump ridges ascend in size down the base. On the bottom four ridges, there are four smaller ridges between them; as the toy ascends in size, the larger ridges take on more and more the shape of a crescent moon, when looked at from the side. On each of the larger ridges there are raised vertical stripes that begin at the bottom of the ridge and dissolve back into smooth towards the top.

Whew. That was a lot of "ridges". One of the close up pictures on the product page gives a visual to what I'm trying to say. I swear, what I'm saying makes sense!

Anyway, this texture is not wild, but instead provides a subtle extra dimension of sensation. If you're just starting to experiment with textures, this is probably a good place to start. The soft jelly is very forgiving, especially where there is not solid plastic underneath. If you're an advanced user as well, the size and ease of use of this toy will more than make up for its unassuming, yet unique texture.

Design / Shape / Size

The main thing that first attracted me to the flexi-q was the way it looked. The artistic, plump ridges accented in purple and white looked absolutely wonderful, and lived up to my expectations. I didn't even realize, until I got it in the mail, that it could actually bend at the white part, and once I figured this out, I was absolutely thrilled with my decision to get this. The "bendability" makes it so easy to use, because it basically creates for you a handle with which to thrust. It can also transform this differently textured, but rather run-of-the-mill phallic vibe, into a rudimentary g-spot vibe.

As far as size goes, the dimensions remind me almost exactly of the typical male anatomy, save for it being larger near the head. I'd think that it would be manageable for everyone from near beginners to more advanced users, though for true beginners to vaginal penetration, the texture, combined with size, would probably be too much. Here are some measurements to give you a rough idea:

Length: 8 1/4"
Insertable length: 6 1/2"
Circumference at the tip: 3 3/4"
Circumference at the widest part (the bottommost ridge): 5 1/4"

Because of how strikingly this yells "I'm a vibrator!", it's not very discreet and I probably wouldn't travel with it.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The vibration bullet is situated at the very tip of the flexi-q and the vibrations diminish slightly towards the base. Even so, the vibrations are moderate to strong, but probably enjoyable by anybody.

I'm not sure if its an intended feature or not, but the jelly sleeve over the internal workings comes off, revealing that all of its mechanical guts are housed in plastic. I find this especially useful after a go with it in the shower, so I can be sure that everything is dry and prevent mold.

About halfway up the shaft is a white band that is the "flexi" part of this toy. It allows the flexi-q to be bent up to a 90 degree angle. Once bent, it stays put, though its easy to return to its original condition.

The flexi-q is controlled by a dial on the base. There is a screw there that you can tighten should you wish to make it harder or easier to turn, but it's about perfect the way it is. The dial itself is tapered as it moves outward and has ridges along the sides, so even if it runs astray of lube, you can work it easily.

As far as noise goes, at the highest setting I'd say its about as loud as an older cell phone's vibration, maybe a little more. It's really quite quiet, and one of the quietest vibes I so far own.

The toy is indeed waterproof, and though I love that the sleeve comes off, I hardly need to take it off. The seal along the base has a ridge that keeps moisture from getting in. The battery compartment is made waterproof by a rubber o-ring along the inside.

The flexi-q takes three AAA batteries which are inserted into the twist-lock compartment. There are general instructions in the box as to how to insert them.

Care and Maintenance

Being jelly, there are some precautions you should take with this toy to ensure that it continues to be safe to use. If you intend to share it, be sure to use a condom each time. To clean, use a toy cleaner or mild soap and warm water. It can be stored alongside other toys if you so wish, but I prefer to keep it in its box. It is compatible with water and silicone based lubricants.

Packaging

The flexi-q came packaged in a fitted plastic cast that slides into a clear plastic and somewhat rigid box. It is adorned with cute little purple and lime asterisks and on the back panel a description of the various features and simple care instructions. With or without the cast, it's a great place to store the flexi-q because it's the perfect size and is very sturdy.

Follow-up commentary
This little vibrator has been my best friend for a year now. I've only had to change the batteries once! It's incredible - she just seems to get more and more perfect. I hate to say it, but...I think I'm in love (sorry hubby).
