Butterfly clitoral pump by Cal Exotics - review by js250

The Butterfly Clitoral Pump was designed for external placement over the labia and clitoris. It can also be used as a nipple pump and penis glans pump. There is a vibration option for added pleasure. It is made to be used either solo or with a partner. I do have to admit that when you have a partner, this pump and vibrator is much easier to use.

The pump and vibrations stimulate the clitoris, labia, nipples and penis glans. You may place it on other areas you find stimulating. The Butterfly Pump can be used by anyone who might find the pumping and vibrating stimulating.

The pump, tubing, bullet and controller are made of plastic. The pump mechanism is made of Crystalessence rubber. Rubber is non-porous but contains PVC so it has a safety rating of 2 on the material safety scale. The pump is pretty soft and pliable and the small ticklers inside the clitoral cup are extremely flexible. The material does enhance the vibrations and makes them stronger.

There is a bit of drag and lubrication is recommended to help create a seal. I use my husband's pump lube, Stallion Pumper's Lube since it is made to increase the seal on pumps by creating a barrier against leaks. You may use oil, water or silicone based lubes, but I do recommend water based for easier clean up (you will thank me for it).

There is a strong rubber/plastic beach ball aroma to this toy. It finally lowered to a non-irritating level after being washed four times and then having flavored lube rubbed all over it and washed off. For some reason, flavored lubes seem to neutralize material odors without transferring their aroma to the material.

The butterfly suction device measures 3" long by 1 1/2" wide and is 7/8" deep inside. There are numerous threads of soft ticklers inside the suction well that vibrate very rapidly for added sensations. The butterfly has 1/2" wide by 2 3/4" long 'wings' on each side. These did not add any stimulation for me, but might add some for different anatomies. The 2" antennae on the front also did nothing for me, unless I held the butterfly in a position to use just the antennae against my skin.

There are two cords coming out of the butterfly. The first one is the air tube for the pump. This goes into the front under the bullet and joins to a hole in the bottom of the suction well. This can add a very pleasant sucking feeling is placed properly on the clitoris. I was unable to place this properly until after I modified the butterfly. The air cord and pump measures 24" long.

The second cord goes from the enclosed mini-bullet inside the butterfly to the controller. This cord exits from the butterfly's butt. The cords tend to get tangled and in the way while you are using the product. This is one area where a partner is a great help. The controller has a dial on the right side under the mound. It fits nicely in your hand and is easy to figure out. It does take 2 AA batteries. The distance from the butterfly to the end of the controller is 26".

There is a battery door on the back of the controller that slides out and lifts up. Once it has been opened, it seems to come open on its own pretty easily. I just use scotch taps to secure it shut. The dial turns to adjust the vibrations level. The vibrations are very fast and buzzy, but if you get the pump to function properly, they will knock you out!

The pump is designed to be used by placing your first two fingers on the trigger and pulling towards you. It works very well if you can create a seal. The base of the butterfly was way too large for my anatomy and was pretty stiff until I modified the whole suction mechanism. More about that in the Experiences section.

This toy is not waterproof!! I could not get this to work for me and was so frustrated, I put it away after being frustrated for a couple of hours. The bullet is super quiet up to about 3/4 of the power level. It does increase but is still much quieter than most bullets.

Do not use too much lube or you will get it inside the pump cord. That requires using the pump suck in small amounts of water, never taking it close to the pump, and releasing it by using the release valve. The release valve is the small black button between the pump part and the clear air hose. If you do get contaminated water in the pump, remove the hose and soak it in bleach water for about 2 hours.

The butterfly requires warm water and a mild detergent. I use a small baby's toothbrush to clean the clitoral well. Use a toothpick to clear the small air hole if it get clogged. Rinse thoroughly. Do not get any water around the bullet controller, wipe it with a sanitizing cloth or wipe. Sanitize this with Zero Tolerance's Foaming Masterbator Cleanser or rubbing alcohol. Let it air dry, the butterfly loves lint more than anything else!!

Store this in its original box or inside a toy pouch or zip lock bag. Do not store it with other toys without protecting it in a bag.

The clitoral pump would not create a suction. I would set it in place, pump and it would fall off--even when I held it in place!! On the two occasions where I did get the suction to seal it popped off as soon as I turned the bullet on. Talk about frustrating!! I worked for about two hours trying to get this toy to work correctly. It never did.

I decided, after studying the butterfly, that one reason it would not stay in place was the rigidity of the sides and the top-heavy weight of the butterfly. I grabbed an extremely sharp pocket knife and went to work, after all it wasn't like I was going to ruin the toy. It was non-functional as it was designed. I removed the wings first then made a cut about half way up the bullet. I completely removed the back three quarters of the butterfly, shaved the top off the front piece I left to hold the bullet and noticed the sides had way more flexibility. Be careful not to cut either cord or into the suction cup.

I spread the thick pump lube on the edge of the clitoral cup, placed it on my labial/clitoral area and.....it worked!!!! No longer bottom or top heavy, the butterfly--or moth as I called it--stayed nicely in place. Until I used the bullet. I ended up doing the suction for awhile then holding it in place while I used the bullet.

Would I buy this toy again?? NO! But I am happy that I was able to figure out a way to use this and get some satisfaction from it.
