An Effective Non-"Penis Head" Pump!

This device does what it’s intended to do – retain suction and create a vacuum-like chamber to suck whatever body part you can fit and seal inside the sleeve and the chamber. It works great as a nipple/aureola and clit pump, but only moderately well as a penis head pump (depending on how much you can withstand the tightness of the sleeve). A plastic pumping mechanism and a sleeve that seals but won’t choke would push my rating to 5 stars for this price point.

Use

Although this product is marketed as a penis head pump, I think it is more fitting to be a nipple/aureola, clitoris, and just about any body part you can fit through the inner ring of the sleeve kind of pump. I’ve tried the device on the flesh on my face, my arms, thighs, and buttcheeks, and the suction retains very well. The circumference of how much of that body part you fit into the pump depends on the sleeve. The sleeve is 1” in diameter, and can only stretch to about 1.5” before I feel pain. Of course I can put two fingers in there and stretch it farther, but fleshy body parts can’t do the same without pain. I would not recommend stretching the inner ring of the sleeve over 1.5” to avoid pain.

You can use this pump wherever you desire, and in whatever position you desire. Just make sure you are comfortable and relaxed when pumping. The pump is great for engorging the pumped area and making it more sensitive to any type of stimulation after the pump is removed. This makes it ideal for use before sex, sensation play, or masturbation. For not very sensitive body parts, you can probably skip the lube. For sensitive areas though, I would recommend using lube with this product.

When using this product as a penis head pump, place the inner ring of the sleeve over the head of the penis. When pumping other areas of the body, cover as much flat surface as you can with the outer ring of the sleeve. Make sure the seal is firm around the skin. Secure the chamber with one hand and use your other hand to manipulate the pump. Slowly pull on the pumping mechanism, and check to see if the suction is working. Don’t overdo it. I only recommend two to three pumps at first. It might not feel like the suction is strong, but allow time for your body part to adjust before pumping more. If you feel any pain or discomfort, release the pressure immediately by pressing the pressure release button.

You can start by pumping a few minutes at a time, and working your way up to 20 minutes at a time. I would suggest reading some pumping guides if you want to consistently pump certain areas for extended periods of time, and take necessary precautions. Here are the precautions on the box:

Material / Texture

Upon opening the box, the chemical smell of the pump was overwhelming and a big turn-off. I actually washed it immediately with anti-bacterial soap and air-dried it for a day before use. The strong smell went away after a few days. After a few weeks of owning the product, I can no longer smell anything unless I hold my nose up to the sleeve and hose.

The hose and sleeve are both lint/dust/particulate magnets. They will pick up anything in the air, and especially on fabrics, even newly laundered ones. Try to keep the sleeve away from touching anything other than your intended body part.

This is the only information about the pump that came with its packaging:

I had to do additional research to find out about materials used in this device. The company product info page is here

The cylinder is made out of clear ABS plastic. It is seamless, smooth, and rigid.

The sleeve is made of Thermoplastic Elastomers, or TPE (also known as TPR). It’s a mixture of plastic and rubber that has advantages of both rubbers and plastics by being thermoplastic (easily molded during manufacture) and elastic (flexible) at the same time. It’s safe to use water and silicone-based lubes with this sleeve.

The hose and bulb are made of PVC. It is soft and flexible, which leads me to suspect the addition of phthalates during manufacture. I hope to clarify whether or not this product contains phthalates in my follow-up. If you wish to know more about phthalates you can read Cal Exotics founder Susan Colvin’s interview reply here

I created a diagram for easy reference to parts of the pump:

I find that the shape is probably more fitting for other body parts than a penis head. To use this as a penis head pump, I will consider getting another sleeve that fits with this device, one that’s more comfortable for girths over 1.5” (please note that if your average girth when erect is 1.5,” your “pumped” girth might be more than that). It’s just disappointing how the chamber is 2.6” in diameter but the inner ring of the sleeve is only 1” in diameter. There’s room for expansion in this chamber but just not with the restrictiveness of the sleeve.

There’s no pressure gauge, so you have to be very careful as to the amount of suction you can take, based on your senses. The clear plastic chamber allows you to see exactly what’s going on inside. This is a positive, because it might be arousing for some people to see the enlarged/engorged area, and it is a visual cue in case you’re overdoing it.

Another thing to watch out for when using this product is the plastic nub on the inside of the chamber. If the head of your penis or other body part touches this when engorged, it is very uncomfortable and madly sensitive! I don’t know why they designed the chamber to have this annoying piece of plastic sticking into it (couldn’t it stick outwards instead of inwards??), but make sure you avoid touching this when your sensitivity is heightened.

It isn’t discreet, unless you store each part of the pump separately so other people can’t piece together what it is until you have all parts in one spot. It’s small enough size to be suitable for travel; it will fit in backpacks and suitcases.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The pump is effective in creating a vacuum-like suction effect on whatever body part you can fit and seal inside the sleeve. As with all body part pumps, the main purpose is to increase blood flow into the pumped areas, for both the increase in size and sensation.

One important feature of this pump is the sleeve it came with. The inner opening of the sleeve is rather small for a penis, but great for a nipple + aureola, clitoris + labia minora, or micropenis for some FtMs and some intersexed individuals. When using it as a penis head pump, the only seal you get is from the inner opening. However, there’s another seal from the outer ring of the sleeve, the part that wraps around the base of the chamber. This is the seal you can use for larger areas of the body, like I described above. When you seal with the outer ring, the entire area that you pump will get sensitive, engorged, and red from blood flow. For example, if you place the inner opening over the nipples, the seal will form around the aureola and nipples, while the outer ring will seal a much bigger portion of the breast.

The most disappointing part of the performance of this device also lies in the sleeve. The inner ring of the sleeve is rather tight, and doesn’t stretch for as much as I’d hoped. It gets uncomfortable during pumping and if your body part expands, it will get painful if the sleeve is stretched to more than 1.5” in diameter. I did not anticipate the restriction of the product’s function to lie in a sleeve, rather than my own body parts’ ability to expand.

I understand the need to form a tight seal, as that is essential to all body part pumps, but the sleeve should also be flexible enough to accommodate for expansion without too much restriction. If I wanted restriction, I could simply put on a cock ring before pumping.

The pumping mechanism is metal spring-operated, with a hard plastic handle and PVC hose. The hose isn’t a necessary component to suction; it’s more for convenience of linking the pump to the chamber for a two-handed operation. The pressure release button works just fine. One press and the chamber quickly detaches from the body part. There’s no pressure gauge so please be cautious when using this pump.

If you’re using the pump on a moist area, or if the area is covered with water-based lube, condensation begins to build up inside the chamber, hindering the view. Because seeing the engorged area is part of the safety features of a transparent chamber, you might want to momentarily release the pressure, wipe away the condensation, and resume.

Care and Maintenance

I would recommend using anti-bacterial soap and warm water or toy cleaner to clean the device. The sleeve and hose attract any dust, particulates, or lint on your fabrics, so I would air dry them before putting them in a zip-lock bag for storage. I also recommend fully air drying the hose, because you don’t want condensation to build up inside your zip-lock bag when you store it. I would not store the pump in its original box because the box is clunky and doesn’t keep out the dust.

You can detach the sleeve from the chamber, the chamber from the hose, and the hose from the handle. Each of those can be separately cleaned. After use I generally clean just the chamber and sleeve portions, and I don’t need to clean the handle or hose unless I’ve gotten them dirty. I also like to store the chamber and sleeve apart from the hose and handle, because I’m ok with dust/lint/particulates on the hose, but not on the sleeve.

ABS can be slowly deteriorated by prolonged exposure to sunlight, so I would store the pump away from direct sunlight. Also, it is safe to use between temperatures of -20 to 80°C, so I would not put it in the dishwasher or boil it for cleaning and disinfecting.

The TPE/TPR sleeve is compatible with water and silicone-based lubes. There’s no care or instructions manual with this product, nor is there warranty information. I went to Cal Exotics company website to obtain this warranty statement:

"Your purchase has a 30 day warranty from the "date of purchase" against any mechanical failure.
To request a replacement under the terms stated above:
Clean and return your product in its original packaging with the "original receipt" and a $10.00 U.S. money order or check made payable to VIBETRONICS, to cover shipping and handling."

With a crappy policy like that, you might as well return or exchange it through Eden Fantasys.

Packaging

The product came wrapped in a clear plastic bag inside a cardboard box with a naked male model and the big words “Penis Head Pump.” Needless to say, it isn’t discreet. It’s also too big for the pump and doesn’t lock out dust. I’m also recycling the sleazy box after I write this review.
