X Shell is best used as a handheld male masturbator. It is a large toy (10.5" long x 5.5" wide) and weighs just over one pound. Its purpose is to provide a blow-job experience (which it does very well). The X Shell can be used for solo play and for couples tease play.

The X Shell is encased by hard black plastic, and the interior is made of TPR material which delivers a soft natural feel. There is a 4" x 3" clear plastic "window" area on the exterior where you can watch your shaft being messaged. This window is a welcome perk that many other vibrating masturbators do not possess.

There are no odors that I could smell even after initially removing the toy from the plastic wrapping. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced toy user, the X Shell can be enjoyed by all. Although the material that will surround your shaft is soft, be sure to use plenty of water-based lube. The silicone lubricant will ruin the toy.

The design is very well thought out. It's shaped like a missile. The inside material sits within a plastic cup that is attached to the motor. The motor moves the cup up and down and also spins it to the right & left. Total shaft coverage!

Due to the overall size, the X Shell is not discreet, easy to hide, or travel-friendly. It's best to enjoy this toy in the comforts of your own home.

The mechanical functionality is wonderful. It has a built-in control pad for one-hand operation. Hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn the X Shell on/off. A single press of the function button allows you to surf through the 10 stroking and rotating modes.

The X Shell is a bit noisy. I am rating it a Bee 3 as it can be heard under the sheets but not through a closed door. The Vroom is a 3-4, depending on which mode you select. All 10 modes feel great! However, the X Shell is not waterproof, so do not use it in the shower or bath.

Taking good care of the X Shell is simple. Use a water-based lube (do not use silicone lube as it will damage the material).

The X Shell is relatively easy to clean. The top section unscrews in order for you to be able to remove the inner TPR material. The top also has lips made from the TPR, so you will need to clean that along with the TPR from the inner portion. Both can be cleaned with soap & water or toy cleaner, and let air dry.


When it's time to put the toy away, be sure to reassemble the X Shell. I did find it difficult to insert the inner TPR material back into the cup. The material tends to "stick" to the sides and makes it a slight challenge to get the inner material completely back into place. After using the toy a few times, the inner material reassembling process has gotten easier. Snap the top cover over the lips and then place the toy in the plastic holder. I then place the toy back into the box that it came in.

As always, the X Shell arrived in a discreet brown box with my address and Web Merchants address on the label. The user instructions were included and provided excellent advice on how to use the X Shell and clean the toy before and after use.

The X Shell comes with one more awesome surprise that most other masturbators do not. There is a set of earphones that are included.
