A real winner

Top Guns is a great choice for those who enjoy an actual plot in porn, with great writing and acting. The sex scenes are hot and are well integrated with the story. In most of the scenes the performers are paired together well, with lots of chemistry between them.
Strong storyline, good acting, great extras. Top-notch production values.
Sex scenes are on the tame side. The "bonus" scene wasn't much.

extremely useful review

Although at first glance one might assume this is a straight-up porn remake of the well-known 1980s film Top Gun, in reality this movie has its own plot, with only a few scenes which are directly related to the Hollywood film. Whereas the original was largely about an individual pilot who is having trouble getting over losing his friend in a training accident, the porn title relates the story of a group of female pilots out to prove that they can fly just as well as the male pilots.

It's a strong story (for porn, at least) with good writing and solid performances from everyone involved. Excellent costumes and sets enhance the storytelling, while appropriate music choices and some amazing use of special effects really make this feel like a Hollywood film.

Jesse Jane, Kayden Kross, Riley Steele, Stoya, Raven Alexis, Selena Rose, Ben English , Scott Nails, Mick Blue,Erik Everhard, Marcus London, Tommy Gunn

Scene 1: Jesse Jane and Erik Everhard
I enjoyed this scene more than the usual Jesse Jane scene. She gives Erik Everhard a slower, more gentle blowjob than is typical for her, which is followed up with some enthusiastic, but quiet sex.

Scene 2: Stoya and Mick Blue
This is another surprisingly quiet scene, with Stoya being noticeably quieter than she is in most of her movies. The scene focuses a lot on oral sex, but there's some vaginal penetration too.

Scene 3: Riley Steele and Marcus London
Riley Steele is great in this scene, which is very hot. There's a lot of chemistry between these two, which comes across beautifully in this scene as Riley easily seduces Marcus London and has her way with him before leaving him in a compromising situation.

Scene 4: Kayden Kross and Scott Nails
Kayden Kross proves to be an irresistible distraction for Scott Nails when she shows up in the men's locker room. Their sex is extremely energetic (Be sure to see the blooper reel to see how the set failed to hold up to their enthusiasm!) and enjoyable to watch. Kayden in particular seemed to really enjoy this scene. There wasn't as much chemistry between these two as the previous match-ups, but they make up for it with their enthusiasm.

Scene 5: Stoya, Jesse Jane, Kayden Kross, Selena Rose, Riley Steele, and Tommy Gunn
Tommy Gunn is lucky enough to hook up with all four female pilots, plus the mechanic (played by Selena Rose). Of course, he can't keep them all busy at once, so they play with each other as well. There's lots of hot action here, especially among the women. Stoya and Selena Rose work particularly well together, and Jesse Jane seemed much more into the women (especially Kayden Kross) than she has been in other movies I've seen. Unfortunately, the scene is not well edited and just switches randomly between different groups of performers, with no continuity at all. The cuts are pretty quick, too, so every time you get into watching someone in particular, the focus jumps to someone else.

Scene 6: Raven Alexis and Ben English
The sex in this scene was pretty good overall and is quite enjoyable, but I felt it was unnecessary to the film. None of the main characters is involved, and the main story has been resolved, so it feels a bit tacked on. Nevertheless, it provides some nice variety. It's the only scene (aside from the orgy) where the performers are free to be as loud and wild as they want, as there's no plot reason for them to be worried about being discovered, so it has a different feel than the other scenes.

• behind-the-scenes featurette (quite long, and much more interesting than most)
• bonus scene (not a real scene, probably should have been part of the BTS)
• very short segment on the computer animation of the jets, as well as the digital enhancement of the sets (which was extremely impressive for porn!)
• blooper reel (some are funny, but the one from Kayden's sex scene had me worried for her!)
• deleted scenes (entirely skippable, as none are very interesting)
• photo gallery
• trailers
I'd recommend this to anyone who likes porn with plot, as long as you don't mind seeing the same assortment of contract stars who appear in every Digital Playground release. To be fair, these are all good performers, and they're all in top form for this film. Everyone involved must have put a lot of effort into this movie, and the end product is impressive.

The sex is all on the tame side, typical hetero "couples" fare: cunnilingus, fellatio, and vaginal intercourse. No anal, no kink, no rough stuff, no spitting/slapping, no man-on-man action. But the performers are all good at what they do and there's some obvious chemistry in some of the pairings, so all the scenes are exciting to watch.

This is a 3 disc set. The first DVD contains the movie and the second DVD contains the extras. The third disc is a Blu-ray disc containing both the movie and extras in HD. I viewed the DVD version of the movie on my computer before writing this review, but the next time I watch it (and I'm sure I will watch it again) I'll watch it on Blu-ray in the living room. The quality of the visuals was great, and I look forward to seeing the movie in high definition on a big TV, as I'm sure it'll look amazing. I love it when both the DVD and Blu-ray versions are packaged together in a single package.

Speaking of packaging, this movie comes in an extremely attractive cardboard fold-out tucked inside a sturdy cardboard sleeve. The foldout packaging features some stunning (albeit airbrushed) images of the female cast (aside from Raven Alexis, who is strangely absent). The outer sleeve contains more typical DVD box art, with a movie poster style artwork on the front and the typical array of screencaps on the back. The only downside is that the cardboard case takes up more space on the shelf than a standard DVD case, but it's not too unreasonable for a 3 disc set.
