The Expert Guide to Advanced Fellatio is mostly for those who are really into blowjobs. Really, really into. Not like your average fratboy--more like your average fetishist. Because what I realized when watching this DVD is that blowjobs, when portrayed to the exclusion of almost every other sex act, get old really fast.

The DVD does cover some interesting techniques and styles, such as standing 69 and sword-swallowing (acrobatic deepthroating). The whole first section is educational, with commentary by Tristan Taormino, interviews with the actors, and scenes demonstrating the concepts being introduced. I found this part fun and sexy. It made my mouth water for a blowjob, and turned me on considerably. I think it would be a great prelude to some experimental oral sex.

However, the problem lies in that many of the clips that are shown in the educational section are repeated in the full scenes. To me, it seemed largely repetitive and got boring. I am usually bored during the blowjob sections of porn, but the first part made me hopeful that the scenes would depict interesting, adventurous interactions, not just a disembodied cock and a bobbing porn babe. Taormino films are usually more interesting than that, and the techniques are interesting. But I just can't watch three blowjob scenes in a row, especially not ones I've basically already seen.

The only scene I would watch again is the one between Evan Stone and Adrianna Nicole. She's just great to watch and they have some great chemistry. Plus, my boyfriend loves him. The other scenes will probably not be revisited. The Charley Chase and Christian scene had a couple problems, namely that Christian was largely uninvolved, and that the sound of Charley Chase gagging was too much for me. Maybe some people like wet, gurgling, choking sounds in their porn, but it just kind of made me nauseated.

To be fair, the scenes involved more than just blowjobs. The Charley Chase and Christian scene featured some tittyfucking, while the other two featured some penetration with fingers and cock. However, they mostly focused on very intimate shots of blowjob, which I simply found lost its interest after a few minutes.

I don't think I would recommend this to the average viewer, even if they wanted to learn advanced techniques. That would probably be better done by reading a book on the subject. However, if you are really, really into blowjobs, and could watch three whole porn scenes in a row of them, you'll probably dig this one.

Tristan Taormino:
I love her. She's such a babe, and she's really on a mission to educate the world about safe, happy sex. Her speech is a little dry in this movie, but she delivers information clearly and in a non-threatening way.

Charley Chase:
She's a dark haired, olive skinned classic porn girl. She has a cigarettes and whisky voice and a girlish demeanor. But let me tell you something: the girl gives a gurgly blowjob. To the point that I really could not watch it. It was really hot the way that she got covered in her own spit, and she went all out, but I just didn't like her style overall.

Christian:
He bears striking resemblance to Bruce Willis, and he had a friendly, calm masculine screen presence. However, I found him to be too laid back in the scene. I mean, he was getting the blowjob of a lifetime, but he didn't seem too enthused. This was an overall problem with the male porn actors in this film.

Adrianna Nicole:
I thought she was really the standout performance of the film. She is a curvy blonde babe with some lovely tatoos and the most gorgeous teeth I've ever seen. She gave a confidant, sexy blowjob to Evan Stone. She was really in control of the scene and gave it great energy. She seemed to really enjoy herself.

Evan Stone:
One of the most well-known straight porn actors around. He has an extremely expressive face, and usually puts on something of a comedic performance. He was very toned down for this movie, but I thought he toned it down too far. He, like Christian, seemed a bit jaded about getting a blowjob. I mean, yes, they get them all the time, and they let out the occasional gasp, but if I were them I'd be squirming and screaming!

Satine Phoenix:
She was this movie's nod to the alt-porn girl. I thought she was pleasant and smiley, had an awesome "carpe noctem" tattoo, and displayed some excellent sword-swallowing skills. My only complaint was that she was wearing a distracting amount of jewelry.

Danny Wilde:
In my opinion, he was the sexiest guy in this film. He is a cute, soft-bodied blonde guy. He had a gorgeous uncut dick, which could be educational to many of the viewers. Though the same goes for him as the other guys: why so low-key?

The main menu has three options: Play Feature, Scene Selection, and Special Features.
The Play Feature option plays the film from the beginning, or from the last place you were watching it.

The Scene Selection option lets you choose whether you want to start at the "workshop" section, or each of the three scenes.

When you choose a scene, it allows you to choose a section within it, like "intro" or "sword swallower." This is both useful and humorous.

The Special Feature option lets you see the safer sex featurette, which is the same as in all the other VividEd films, previews of The Expert Guide to Anal Pleasure for Men, Oral Sex: Fellatio, and Threesomes, and Midori's Guide to Sensual Bondage, a photo gallery, a commercial for vivid products, and a little promo for vivided.com.

I found all this very comprehensive and easy to use.

I think that perhaps the scenes at the end would be better cut out of this movie, and the "workshop" section could stand alone as a featurette of a more general film about fellatio. I did enjoy watching this and learned a trick or two, I can't particularly recommend it.
