Nina Hartley's Guide to Bondage Sex is an educational introduction to bondage for sex. It is a fetish film for couples or persons interested in bondage with a specific purpose. It is certainly for beginners rather than experienced players.

It begins with Nina and Claire outlining the usual and expected information about bondage and safety. They discuss why people enjoy the combination of bondage and sex, and how it can be done safely. Claire is an extraordinary bondage rigger, accomplished model, and presenter of workshops and demonstrations. She is certainly an expert on bondage and sex. It has an intimate feel, more of a conversation than a lecture. Though this portion is a bit lengthy, it is the most important part of the film. They address stereotypes and common misconceptions about bondage. Bondage can be safe, with the employment of common sense and proper technique.

An interesting twist to this film is that Nina bottoms for the first time on camera. The film includes two scenes or "demonstrations." Both demonstrations involve girl on girl bondage. The first is between Nina and Claire as they employ the techniques they discussed in the beginning about safety and negotiation when applying rope bondage in scene. Their session together is erotic, sensual, and educational. They go through many positions without using many knots. The only knots Claire uses throughout this demonstration is the square knot and the lark's head knot. It involves strap on sex between Nina and Claire vaginally and anally. One thing they do not address is how persons without bondage beds or equipment "suitable" for bondage are able to do these positions.

The second demonstration includes Trinity, Van, and Claire in a group scene as Claire does rope bondage with Trinity. Van penetrates Trinity vigorously orally, vaginally, and anally. Claire gets to have some fun while Trinity is bound and fucked as well. This scene is much more erotic with the lack of educational conversation and step by step instruction. This scene is basically a "now you try" as it incorporates many of the bondage techniques and knots that Claire explained during the first scene.

This video demonstrates the use of rope, leather, and alternative forms of bondage. During the first demonstration between Claire and Nina, Claire uses rope, leather cuffs, chains, and leather belts to bind and restrain Nina in many positions. Claire uses more intricate and decorative rope bondage during the second scene with Trinity and Van.

This film is perfect for individuals who are completely new to bondage, and might want to learn basic information quickly without doing extensive research. This video is for persons who wish to bring bondage sex into daily sexual encounters. It is not for persons who wish to access many skills in one sitting since the amount of harnesses and knots covered are limited, but is suitable for budding riggers and rope bottoms.

The chemistry between Nina Hartley and Claire Adams is amazing. I think they are a great team to be discussing the topic of bondage and sex. The second demonstration with Trinity Post and Van Damage is electric and sexually charged. Claire is included in this scene and ties Trinity in many inventive and exciting positions!

The costumes are of the fetish persuasion. Nina is dressed in heels and blue lingerie while Claire is dressed to kill in a red and black corset, garter, black stockings, and red high heeled boots. Trinity and Claire are dressed in black rubber outfits during their group scene including Van Damage.

Features include: motion menus, bonus scene, photo gallery, trailers, interviews, behind-the-scenes, and web info.

The DVD includes a photo gallery of shots from the film in a slide show presentation style. It looks like a couple of shots were done of scenes that were not used in the final cut of the film. A bonus sex scene is also included! That one I won't give away, but it is very hot! Interviews from Nina and Claire about bondage in their personal lives and in their careers. Behind-the-scenes are fun as always! We see Claire go through hair, costume choices, and get to see off camera between Claire and Trinity. It's good times!

The display case leaves nothing to the imagination. Claire is on the cover in a rubber dress and cap with her breasts on display and includes a smaller photo of Nina with the words "bondage sex" across the top in large print. The backside shows many small photos of the scenes between Claire and Nina and the group scene with Trinity, Van, and Claire. There is nothing discreet about this packaging.

I think the interview portion is a wonderful addition to the DVD. Nina discusses her personal experiences and interests with BDSM. She talks about her feminist views and how that outlook interacts with her sexuality. She also talks about her role as rope bottom for this video and although she is most often in the dominant role, she believes that it is healthy and natural to want to branch out and experience bondage as both a top and a bottom.

Claire talks about her techniques and her personal preferences as a rigger and as a bondage bottom. She has extensive experience with bondage in the mainstream and in the BDSM community. She discusses the different types of bondage and the importance of experimenting with bondage to find what is best for the individual.

I had a great time with this DVD. I watched it with my partner who is very new to bondage over Skype. It was really fun and adventurous for us. I have dabbled in bondage for a few months, but honestly I love hearing bondage safety and info over and over again. The more I hear it the more it gets drilled into my head, and that is important. Knowing the ins and outs of bondage is essential to doing it correctly and safely. The scenes were hot, and introduced sex beyond the bondage itself. Often couples aren't sure how to continue after the bondage is on. "He/she is tied up...now what?" and this video is great for the "now what?"
