This video is a playful sex education & porn video taught by porn star Penny Flame. She demonstrates techniques with real people. The education segment is followed by three couples demonstrating actual sexual stimulation.

Vivid entertainment has created a video specifically designed to provide sexual education about using your hands during sex. This video is a combination of workshop type education with models, demonstration movie segments, safer sex education and advertisement.

When the menu for this DVD comes up, the first two items are "Play feature," and "Hand Job workshop." If you choose "play feature", be prepared to sit through almost ten minutes of advertising. Vivid entertainment sells several products as well as runs an 800 number service. Several products and services are previewed, twice - with a slight variation on the ad run. Additionally, there are separate segments of the DVD - More adult fun (more about the 800 service), Vivid products, and Vivid.com.

The feature itself began with Penny in a workshop setting. This was set up in an environment similar to a living room and had a audience. The audience consisted of several single men, one older woman, one couple. There were also a male and a female that appeared separate were very attentive and questioning. These two were actually actors for the second couple demonstration segment.

Penny begins with instructional details about pleasing a woman. This includes an anatomy lesson on paper, then a demonstration with her friend. There is discussion about communication, moving slowly, other sensitive areas. Penny and her friend converse about different techniques and the importance of recognizing the clit is very sensitive when not properly aroused. Throughout the conversation Penny is physically demonstrating. This segment is followed by a similar segment about pleasing men that is also demonstrated with a friend. Emphasis is placed again on communication about individual likes and dislikes and that the head is very sensitive until aroused. Neither of these segment end with a climax. The use of lube and toys – for both men and women is discussed and demonstrated. Penny does a through, but brief job of describing oil, water, and silicone lube and which toys they are compatible with.

The workshop segment is followed by three videos that demonstrate couples and varies types of handjobs. Penny pops up as a cartoon periodically with instructional advice and notes about what the sex entails. The cartoon figure is about the size of a stick figure with a head about ten times larger. It may be possible to view these without “Penny pop ups.” There was an advertisement of these “films” without instruction immediately prior to viewing, and the menu indicates without instruction. It is currently unclear if this is an option that requires additional purchase.

The entire DVD is longer than we wished to view in one evening. When I returned to the DVD, I choose to browse the menu aspect of the DVD rather than continue to view directly. (See experience below.)

There are two additional sections on the DVD. One is “safer sex”, and one is “positions.” The safer sex segment covers several different ways to protect yourself if you are not fluid bonded with your partner. Dental dams for cunnilingus, anallingus, and condoms are both shown and demonstrated. The use of saran wrap, and making your own barrier with latex gloves is demonstrated. There is no indication of any safe sex practices during the sexual segments of the DVD.

The “positions” segment is a menu choice of different sexual positions. Once selected, you are taken to a couple having sex in that position.
Experience
My experience with this video is two-fold. My husband and I watched it together until after the first sexual segment. Then I watched it alone extensively, but not completely through the menu system on my computer. Unfortunately, at one point when I went to flip back to the DVD while writing, my computer froze completely- even the clock. After a restart, it appears that the DVD is now corrupted and unreadable. I am unable to verify minor details at this point. For example, if it is possible to watch the sexual films without "Penny's instruction." If I can repair it, I'll come back to this review.

The amount of advertising that is built into this DVD is truly horrible. The material is well done - it adds an element of humor, and real demonstrations to some very informative advice. Penny covers many small details in a short amount of time, but the advertising and her cartoon pop-ups prevented a great deal of enjoyment.

I also found a great deal of a discord between the DVD menu and watching it under "play feature." When watching from the menu system, I was unable to find my way to particular scenes easily. When I looked at the menu, I was also not sure which segment would have been included in the "feature" aspect of the DVD.

I looked to the Vivid.com website and I found that this appears to be listed as a "movie" not as a sexual education feature. It is a strange combination of both.
Follow-up commentary
Despite trying to look at this DVD in a couple of different ways and cleaning it, this disk is permanently corrupted. I am unable to follow up with any additional review or comments.

I can understand the need for an educational video on this subject but the amount of advertisement sounds distracting and pop-ups while humorous are distracting. Let's face it handjobs aren't all that mysterious or hard to figure out with just a few moments and a willing partner.

    Nice review!

    Thanks DBD!

Good heads up on the ads and other grating aspects of the DVD (and hope it isn't corrupted.)

The pop-ups sound like those on the Tristian Taomorino's DVDs...though maybe even more annoying.

Ah, Vivid. My boyfriend has a midget porn DVD from Vivid and I agree, the amount of advertising packed into the "feature film" is boring and time-consuming. I'm sorry to hear that the DVD got corrupted as well! This doesn't sound like a DVD I'd want to watch. Thanks for the review!

Ah - this is the "coaster" :--). Advertising like that really bugs me, although it sounds like there is some other good info in there.
    Good review!

Thanks everyone. Yes, I was actually impressed with some of the information. Especially the demonstration of the dental dams. This was definitely beyond my sexual education growing up.

However, I disliked the disconnect between "safe sex" practices in a particular segment only and not the rest of the dvd.

I would disagree that all that is needed to learn is a willing partner. Sometimes individuals lack the tools to communicate effectively and extra insight into techniques is helpful. Especially from the perspective of the opposite sex.

The real problem was the advertising.
