"Playgirl, Body Worship" is an episodic soft core porn with nine vignettes if you include the two in the special features. Each one is a different scene with different stars.

The sexual acts in this are pretty vanilla--you've got vaginal penetration, oral sex on women by men, oral sex on men by women, some kissing, and men masturbating. Half of the actors seem pretty into it, the other half not so much. The lighting and angles throughout are different for each scene and some of them are jarring and unsexy, while others are pretty standard pornography angles. There is a surprising amount of penis flaccidity compared to what I am used to in a porn, and also the penises are not huge big ones so this isn't for size kings and queens. There is a lot of variety, though--one scene might have a woman who baby talks, another will have a more domineering woman, some have men of average size and some are large, etc. If you're looking for a good spread of different scenes, it seems like the "playgirl" DVDs provide that.

Also included in the "special features" is a code for a 20% discount on products from the playgirl website, a photo shoot, an interview about the careers of two playgirl porn stars, and some previews of their other videos.

This opinion is of course very subjective but I thought that this seemed like it wasn't written for women, and I had the impression that it was meant to appeal to women. There was definitely more "story" than a lot of shorter porn, but the stories weren't realistic. It was by and large too abstract and even avant-gard. It wasn't applicable to my own experience or fantasies at least, so it was harder for me to get into. I think I prefer less story when the storyline is going to distract from the sex.

The run time for the first seven scenes is 1 hour and 42 minutes, but the bonus features include about another 50 minutes of play time.

The first vignette has a feminine featured male actor, which I found very sexy--but the background talking was a huge turn off for me. It consisted of a female voice discussing the excitement of hiring a male prostitute, but some of the statements included, "do you take plastic" and "I like to pay for it" in an over acted voice. It was funny.

The second vignette was about a woman filming a male porn star, and this one had another bizarre voice over where it sounded like the actress was kind of baby talking. The actors seem into it, though.

Scene 3 made me laugh a lot. A woman is abducted by aliens, and she is drugged into believing that she is seeing her past lovers. At one point she is writhing around in a sheer sheet being ravaged by invisible sex partners. Weird.

Scene 4 centered around voyeurism with a couple trying to spice up their love life. I thought this one was pretty sexy, but there was an awkward cut where suddenly the guy was greased up, and that was distracting to me. Also the lady seems at times like she's faking it.

Scene 5 had a lot of extremely strange cuts. It used the "static screen" effect to alternate between different camera effects. Their facial expressions were like deer in in the headlights.

Scene 6 started off really well. The narrative was sexy, the actors fairly believable. There are some overly cheesy lines but over all the narrative worked for me. This one is a fantasy about starting an affair with a sexy stranger. The angles were a lot more attractive. It was sexy that the male actor was watching her face for a good portion of it, he seemed very engaged.

Scene 7 was sexy in spite of an extremely fake looking boob job. The camera cuts were overall less awkward. The storyline of this one didn't appeal to me: A full grown school girl is going to a priest to confess that she fantasizes about him, and you can imagine the rest. The lighting was better in this one overall and they seemed to have good chemistry. During the blow job (he was fairly limp for a lot of it) I wasn't impressed. But the subsequent fucking was hot and the male actor catered to a fetish for sultry, "tall dark and handsome". There was definitely still immense cheesiness though; the guy had really long hair and kept whipping it out of his face.

The first scene in the special features is 30 minutes of a muscular guy feeling himself up. The first six minutes or so, he's rubbing his nipples and kissing his arm muscles. It finally ends with him masturbating. He is semi flaccid for the entire thing, and he darts his eyes around like he isn't sure where the camera is. This one might appeal to foot fetishists and muscle-butt lovers. A good portion of it is a close up of his feet while he's feeling himself up, and a scene where he's gyrating against a couch and mostly showing off his physique.

The second scene in the special features is called "French composer" and it features the guy from scene 1 and the girl from scene 7. This one is pretty hot, and both actors seem like they are very into the sex. Also they're both very attractive. The story/lead up is a piano lesson I believe.

I haven't watched it again since reviewing it. I think it just isn't my style, and I am not sure I know anyone who would be into it--I think it might be a little too staged and cheesy.
