Throat: A Cautionary Tale - dvd by Vivid - review by xGOLDx

This is a remake and updated version of Deep Throat, an old classic which I actually have never seen. The main idea of the story is that our starlet discovers that she has a clit in the back of her throat, giving her a talent and love for deep throating. Pretty ridiculous plot, so ridiculous that I almost didn't want to check it out. But my love for Sasha Grey made me buy it anyways and I was really glad. Somehow it didn't feel like you were watching this stupid circus act of a porn, which was my greatest fear.

Throat is actually a fairly dark porn, the movie opens with Sasha Grey lying on a table in an autopsy room. Immediately you learn that she was murdered, and the movie explores her life while trying to piece together the events leading up to her murder. You learn of her taking a job at a peep show to pay for school, the discovery of her ability to orgasm through deep throating, being exploited by her boyfriend and much more. The story was just enough to link the sex scenes together and provide some background, but without being too much that you wanted to fast forward to the sex scenes. The acting in Throat is fairly decent as well. I mean no one is winning an Oscar, but definitely good for porn standards.

The sex scenes themselves give a great variety of acts. Obviously given the nature of the story there is going to be a lot of blow jobs, but there is still a good mix including female masturbation, vaginal intercourse, anal intercourse, oral on her, and three ways. The variety in the cast was very refreshing - interracial scenes and lots of natural bodies which as a woman is very important to me. Also there was a nice bit of lead up into the sex scenes. The sexual tension built up very naturally, as did the sex acts. It felt like you were watching real people having sex, as opposed to actors following a standard porn formula.
