About author

Author Lisa Sussman has written a number of books with a similar format, including "500 Great Dates: Creative, Fun, and Sexy Ways to Spend Time Together," "The 100 Best Foreplay Tips Ever!" and "Over 100 S&M Sex Tips." Also a columnist, she has contributed to a variety of women's magazines, including Cosmopolitan.

Content / Style / Audience

The content of this book is very easy to read because its 96 pages are broken down into bite-sized nuggets of information aimed towards the younger female audience. You will, in general, find one tip per page, although there doesn't appear to be a theme tying these tips together from one page to the next, such as nutrition, exercise, masturbation, etc. For this reason, as well as the lack of any kind of table of contents, the book seems slightly disorganized despite having a numerical sequence.

Design

Where this book excels is in its artistic design. Very colorful, feminine, and creative, it is visually engaging, but still easily read. An interesting note is that it is smaller than you might expect, something of a stocking stuffer type of book. In hardcover, it is sturdy and easy to clean, should something get spilled.

Personal comments

If you are a regular reader of women's magazines or blogs, or just someone with experience, you are unlikely to learn anything new from this book. If there is some new material, you don't get any good amount of detail because the book is so small, and you would need to do further research on your own. Because of this, I don't recommend the purchase for your regular library, but rather as a gift for a birthday girl or bachelorette who may want to leaf through the fun and beautiful pages in a few minutes of her spare time. A very light read, it can help spark some fun conversations with friends or a partner, but it won't really add to your breadth of knowledge.

Experience

I received this as a small present from a friend on my 18th birthday a few years ago. Having been a reader of Seventeen, Cosmo, Allure, and Glamour for a number of years already, I can't honestly say I learned anything new or groundbreaking. I have kept it, however, because it's nice to look at; and, when I'm bored, it's fun to leaf through to open up communication with my boyfriend (and it adds to some great girl talk).
