Pocket Kama Sutra by DK ADULT - review by lepari

The Pocket Kama Sutra is probably one of the best technique and guide books to have in your sexual arsenal. This book covers topics from preparing the body for arousal and sex to positions that maximize pleasure to different ways to kiss, caress, and stimulate.

This book is a wonderful tool for discovering new positions based on category (woman on top, sitting, kneeling, ect,) because not only does the Kama Sutra provide specific sections for these positions, it provides variations of the type of position named. For one type of position (woman on top for example) there are at least three or more different ways to be in that position type, which allows for couples to experiment and find which position variation is the best for both partners. Along with this wonderful feature, there are color photos and a how-to description of each position so that you can not only read about how to do it, but you can also see how the position looks/works to better judge if it is something within your physical ability. Small snippets of advice go along with the position picture to show what you can do in that position to increase pleasure or ensure comfort.

Outside of being a wonderful guide to many erotic and exciting sex positions, it is also a great source of ideas for foreplay activities, such as stimulation of erogenous zones, massages, kissing/other mouth play, and much more. This book is not only about having sex, it's about the entire process of getting in the mood, bonding with your partner, and reaching maximum pleasure.

All in all, this book is not only informative, but helpful. The style is easy to read through and follow, and any couple from any demographic can enjoy what this book has to offer.

This book is very well put together. It is a hard back with a color picture book sleeve on the outside and easy to read title font. The fact that it IS hard back is wonderful, because multiple reads won't wear down the binding and structure of the book, which is great for multiple uses.

There are 157 well written pages that come with not only color photos but color illustrations as well. Each picture and drawing come with a wonderful description of what the picture or drawing is showing, and italic insets provide quick tips for any position or activity being discussed. This book also provides an occasional brief history of where a position or topic originated, which is great for people looking for more information on what they're doing! Sensual ideas and a history lesson.

One of the nicest things about this book is that it is broken down into 8 chapters that are then broken into sub-categories which elaborate even further. For example:

Chapter 5 is Ananga Ranga Positions, which is broken down into four sections with different position types, which then go even FURTHER to elaborate on at least three different variations on that particular position type. So if you were looking for woman on top positions for example, there would be three different ways to accomplish that listed in the "Woman on Top" section of Ananga Ranga Positions chapter.

The only draw-back with the chapters is that it doesn't list the sub-chapters, so you'll have to do a little bit of searching, which isn't fun if you want a quick look up. For this problem, I'd suggest putting little tabs in each section so if you're in a hurry, you can find the tab and be off to a sexy position!

This book is actually what got me into more adventurous positions other than regular woman on top and typical missionary. It's a great tool for exploring boundaries and trying new things in the bedroom.

Looking through this book with my partner is actually what started our adventurous phase (which continues today.) Opening looking at and talking about the positions and activities helped me be more open about what I wanted, and helped him not be timid to bring up kinky things he wanted to try. Win win situation.
