The Modern Kama Sutra. Pleasuring Her First - instructional video by Alexander Institute - review by Foxxy Kitty

 I admit that I’m an enthusiast for erotic literature and pornography, but instructional sex books and videos, not so much. Being an open minded person and a believer in sexual education, I’ve got my hands on a few Kama Sutra books and videos over the years and was always left feeling like I didn’t learn anything new that I hadn’t known already, or that the pictures and visuals presented in it were more useful than the information itself. So usually, I stay away from basic instructional sex materials and instead rely on BDSM, lesbian and bisexual sex stories and porn to enhance my sexual imagination and to possibly learn a new thing or two the natural way, without having an author or sexpert tell me how to do it. However, when I was notified that I will be reviewing The Modern Kama Sutra. Pleasuring Her First, I was up for the task.

 The first thought that came into my mind when I opened the package and read the back of the DVD was “Why should there be a workshop telling people how to do something that should come naturally?” But another part of my mind was optimistic, hoping that I might learn something new from this instructional video, and if not myself, that you, the Eden customer, might gain something out of it.

 If there’s one first impression that I got from this DVD when I started watching it is that it’s indeed professional and has real people having and talking about sex. You won’t see cheesy acting or forced dialogue here; what you’ll get is real life couples who have pretty healthy sex lives and who are very open and comfortable with coming to an erotic workshop to improve their sex lives. It’s not porn, but it tries to be erotic, personal, and educational at the same time without being a snooze fest. The host of The Modern Kama Sutra, Dr. Patti Britton, talks with these couples about the subject of “pleasing her first,” which include the art of kissing and caressing the female body, love making, and cunnilingus (or, in Kama Sutra terms, pleasuring the yoni). Guys, don’t feel left out, Dr. Britton mentions a great deal about fellatio (pleasuring the lingam) and the art of “pleasing him first” as well.

 This DVD specifically caters to couples who might have forgotten the importance of the simple pleasures in sex, such as kissing and massaging, or to couples who want to enhance their sex life by learning how to pleasure her (or him) first. For most of us, a lot of what’s on The Modern Kama Sutra is not really “secrets,” but is pretty much getting back to the basics. Personally, I found a lot of the information and advice to be, well, basic, but useful. You won’t learn anything new or spectacular, but it never hurts to be reminded of the simple things that we sometimes take for granted. Dr. Britton’s main point is to gain a fresh and new perspective on how we pleasure our partners, and she achieves this very well.

 The Modern Kama Sutra, all in all, is decent. I found it to be interesting and the sexual scenes were well-done, slightly erotic, albeit a tad bit boring at times. The DVD also comes with a free 1 hour sensual music CD. The sensual music won’t put you and your partner in the mood, but if you want something mellow to listen to during dinner or bedtime, it will sure do the job. Overall, I gave The Modern Kama Sutra. Pleasuring Her First 3 stars for effort and presentation, and would only recommend it to those who want a more in-depth education on how to pleasure their significant other.
