About author

This book was published by Rodale Health under the Men's Health/Women's Health name. As someone who has been health conscious for a REALLY long time, I trust Women's Health to give me the most up-to-date scientific research. They choose what they publish based off of scientific research; they name the school, the scientist and the basis of the research, along with a summary of what the research found.

I don't know much about Men's Health (after all, I'm not a man), but I do have a little bit of insight on the name. I've been a loyal reader of Women's Health for about 6 years now, and I have noticed a bit of a difference in the magazine, since the new Editor-in-Chief (Michele Promaulayko) took over. Michele was a former employee of Cosmopolitan magazine before becoming Editor of Women's Health. I have noticed that the articles about sex, while still maintaining the scientific research, have gotten a lot racier in their advice. The articles are by no means dull, but they still give you information to keep everything in tip-top shape, and how to make your sex life better, as does this book.

Content / Style / Audience

This book is 100% geared towards making your sex life the best it can be, and anyone can read it. There are 4-chapter sections, one for men, one for women. It includes an "owner's manual" so to speak on how to get to know your sex organs and get the best results out of them, as well as letting you know when something might be going on health-wise. There are workout routines included in the book that can help your performance in bed, by strengthening the muscles you might be using during sex. It also includes the "Super Sex Foods", which are foods that can enhance blood flow to the genital regions, as well as foods that act as aphrodisiacs.

It kills certain misconceptions about sex, and basically takes the taboo out of anything that may be seen as "dirty" or "naughty". There is a whole chapter dedicated to sexual positions, including charts and directions. Another interesting part of the book is that it includes a small section about the best sex toys for certain situations, like, if you're using it with your partner, or the best to stimulate the g-spot, or the best for water. I can literally say that Men's/Women's Health covered their bases, and I don't believe there is anything left out.

Design

The book is put together incredibly well. I have had one of its counterparts (The Women's Health Big Book of Exercises—which I also recommend) for two years, and using it included several trips to the gym. It looks like it has barely been used. It is a softback book, but it is very sturdy. The layout includes pictures when necessary, but it flows very well, and connects everything to become an incredibly useful book.

Personal comments

As I've mentioned earlier, I have been a loyal reader of Women's Health for the better part of 6 years now. To me, they have built up a reputation of being a solid, quality piece of publication, mainly because their attention to detail is exquisite. They find a way to relate sex to everything, including your frame of mind, your confidence, the food you eat, the exercises you choose to do or choose not to do, and most importantly, your relationship. I would consider this to be the last word in sexual advice, and because I own this book, I'll probably never buy another sex book again (unless it's like a Kama Sutra or a book dedicated to sexual positions). I seriously hold it to the highest regard, and would expect nothing less from the Women's/Men's Health name.
