extremely useful review
So, you think you know what gay sex is all about. You've watched the amateur vids on the plethora of tube sites. Maybe, you've rented the DVDs in the middle of the night from your local shop or watched a snippet or two of LOGO's programming when no one was looking. "It's easy", you think to yourself. And now that you know everything there is to know, you're ready to show your moves off! Or, maybe you've been seeing someone for a while now and things are just a little bit dry in the bedroom. Hell, maybe you know dick-all about gay sex but you just can't stop thinking about the guy in the cube next to you. Could he be down for a little JO or BJ session?

If any of these ring true for you, this is a must-read. Jonathan Bass delivers a cheeky guide on the do's and don'ts of gay sex. Just like the guides written for heteroes who have trouble hooking up on the fly (and couples who need to spice things up), Mr. Bass covers the basics of everything from etiquette, initiation, and sealing the deal all the way to safety and coming out to friends and family.

This review would be a novel of its own if I tried to write down all of the information contained between the covers. There really are 101 different topics covered, each approximately one to three pages long.

Here is a short list of terms or practices covered by 101..Secrets, which I found to be notable:
- Injaculation
- Frottage
- Diddle Don'ts and Do's
- Role Play Scenarios with dialogue suggestions
- Prepping for Bottom Play
- Know What Not To Say: Information for the three major phases of relationships
- A complete list of sex toy materials detailing which are best for solo, shared or raw play

As a straight woman, I have always been curious if the dynamics of gay and straight relationships have any similarity at all. What about the sex part? Who does what and how and for how long? Do both guys get off at the same time? How does the ‘after' go? Where do you even find a guy to have sex with in the first place? His place or your place? Do people really go to glory holes? All of these questions and more were answered in a very direct, matter of fact manner. The short answer is: yes, there are a lot of similarities between the two and in order to find out just how many, you'll have to read this book One thing I can tell you, what happens in gay porn isn't any more realistic than what happens in straight porn. This is also a great book for writing erotica if that is something you are interested in doing.

Mr. Jonathan Bass is a Los Angeles-based writer who has used his life experiences and knowledge to create a thorough how-to guide intended for the beginner or the master. He regularly contributes to several gay publications.
Experience
There are a couple of points where the cheekiness gets to be a little too flippant for my tastes but my husband seemed to find it an enjoyable read from a guy's perspective.

I'm very happy with the over all tone of the book; it promotes a very healthy, sane and safe outlook to gay sex.

I found the illustrations to be the most comical part, think of naked comic book characters in standard sex positions each with an enormous penis protruding somewhere in the picture.

The etiquette sections were really enlightening. He basically tells you not to be a complete ass and to have plenty of snacks, drinks, towels, condoms and lube around if you're hosting a guest.
