French frills sleep shirt and thong - bed jacket discontinued by DreamGirl - review by Breas

The French Frills Sleep Shirt and Thong by DreamGirl is available in sizes S-XL. I purchased the size XL. I really liked the look of the sleeping jacket and thought it would be cute to even wear over a tank top. The outfit arrived on a black hanger and surrounded by a plastic bag. There were no text or photos on the bag. The hanger would be excellent to use to store the outfit or it can be kept in a drawer.

There was a cardboard tag attached to the top when it arrived. The tag has a photo of a model wearing the outfit and states the company name, company website, outfit size, and colour. The shirt and thong are 90% nylon and 10% spandex. The material to both the panty and top is stretchy. The outfit is sheer.





Below are a few measurements of both items to the outfit. The thong and shirt were laying flat, unstretched. If you need any additional measurements, please send me a private message and I’ll get them for you.

Thong
Waistband unstretched: 15 ½ inches
Waistband stretched as much as I could: 35 inches
Width of material that covers your front area: 5 ¼ inches
Liner length: 4 inches

Top
Length down centre back: 26 ½ inches
Length down side (armpit to bottom): 15 inches
Chest (armpit to armpit): 17 inches
Length of ties: 15 ½ inches
Length of sleeve (armpit to bottom-not including ruffle): 9 ¾ inches

The measurements of the top were taken with the ties done up the way it arrived. The ties at the centre front were tied up tightly. You could always add width to the top by loosening the ties. The length measurements above are without the ruffle trim. There is ruffle trim all along the bottom of the shirt. The trim also goes up the front of the top and along the neckline. The trim is 2 layers of pink mesh. The top layer is 2 ½ inches in length and the bottom layer is 3 ½ inches.

Both shirt and thong are a pretty floral lace. The thong has an elastic waistband so it’s very stretchy as you can see in the measurements above. You can’t tell from the stock photo on the product page but there are actually little sparkly gems on the front of the thong in the shape of a flower. I’m a sucker for anything that sparkles so I was pleasantly surprised with this. The thong does have a liner in the crotch.




The shirt also has the sparkly gem flowers on it. They are around the cuff of each sleeve. You really can’t see these gems in the stock photo. You can see in the stock photo that the sleeves are not full length. The width of the bottom of the cuff is approximately 5 ¼ inches unstretched. Below each cuff, there is pink mesh ruffle. The ruffle is wide and flares out from the bottom of each cuff. The mesh ruffle is about 3 ½ inches and there is only the one layer.



So when I tried the outfit on, the shirt really didn’t work for me like it does for the model in the stock photo (go figure). The thong fit nicely though. My hip measurement is 41 inches. The bottom back of the top falls half way down my bum so it doesn’t actually cover my entire bum like it does on the model. I’m 5’6 in height. I’m able to pull the top down because it’s stretchy but it always ends up back at the halfway point on my bum.

The front of the top was where I ran into some issues. I’m able to tie the front ties tightly but that’s because there is stretch to the material. I wear a C cup and no matter how tightly I tied those ties, my C’s would flop out of the top. They don’t want to stay in the top at all like they do for the model in the stock photo. This could be because either hers are fake, small, or photo shopped, or quite possibly all of the above. Any sort of movement in the top will make my entire chest exposed. You’ll have to excuse my non-sexy sheep pyjama pants in the photo below.

I have rather large upper arms and the cuff with the gems on it was snug on my body. It wasn’t tight where it was uncomfortable, but if my arms were any larger, they might pose a comfort problem. My upper arm (right above my elbow) has a circumference of approximately 10 ½ inches. If you are my size or smaller, you won’t have a problem. The bottom of the cuff (not the ruffles) falls right above my elbow.

For the most part, the outfit is comfortable. The mesh ruffle trim to the top is really soft and non-irritating to the skin. The only part of the top that was slightly bothersome was the cuffs. This could be because they were so snug on me though. When my chest was beneath the lace material, I didn’t have any issues with the lace being too coarse or aggressive against my nipples. There is no padding or underwire in the top. The care tag states that the outfit should be hand washed in cold water and line dried.

Overall, it’s a cute outfit but doesn’t fit like it should… or at least not how I’d expect after looking at the product page images. It’d be nice for someone with a smaller chest than myself. If you have a C cup or larger, you could wear the top but as long as you’re okay with your chest completely exposed. A C cup or larger could also wear a tank top beneath the top to avoid this. I probably won't get much use out of the top because of the way it fits.

I still think it's cute but sadly, it didn't fit me nicely. I recently gave this away to someone who is smaller than me since it would fit them better.
