Don’t let the simple design of Duke fool you, this toy isn’t the boring little vibrator you might expect. One in the Blu Toys line from Doc Johnson, Duke holds many more surprises once you get it out of the package. It feels like a heavy, solid vibe, but it’s comprised completely of powder blue TPR (non-phthalate) material, so Duke is easily pliable and can bend completely in half without tearing, snapping, or breaking of the material or the vibrating mechanism. You can squeeze it or twist it, Duke will always snap back into shape. The feel of the TPR material feels almost like a balloon. It’s smooth yet sticky, and requires the user to either have their favorite TPR friendly lube on hand or use Duke with a lubricated condom. One of my favorite elements of this toy is that there is no sickening plastic stink that other jelly or rubber toys might have, and there is no inclusion of those equally nauseating artificial vanilla scents that other toy manufacturers use to mask any offensive smell. Duke is thankfully scent-less, which is an appreciated design decision on Doc Johnson’s part.

At nearly seven inches in length and almost two full inches in diameter at its thickest point, Duke is absolutely no slouch. The tip of the vibrator looks like an inch and a half long tapered egg, perfectly designed for clitoral stimulation. This bulb tip immediately swoops to the thickest part of the vibe, the one and a half inch long G-spot stimulating bulge in the middle of the shaft, which then flares out at the base of the vibrator, honestly giving you the sensation of being entered three times. During use, Duke feels gigantic, partly due to the tacky TPR material which can stick to skin. With the flexible action of the shaft, the user can manipulate Duke to reach all your favorite places, but I can’t imagine that Duke would leave any spaces out due to its girth! Duke can also be used for anal play, since the three stimulating bumps also echoes the design of many anal toys on the market.

Duke is a multi-speed vibrator using three AAA batteries and is manually adjusted with a twist bottom control cap, which holds even more pleasant surprises. First, during use, never once did I accidentally unscrew the whole vibrator when trying to adjust the speed, which is nice since dropping your batteries on the mattress is often a problem when using twist bottom vibrators. The vibes strictly come from the base, there is no internal vibrating egg in the tip or middle of the shaft, which initially made me skeptical about how effective the vibes can be. Add the fact that the vibes are soft and high pitched, almost like a fly buzzing around a room, I assumed that Duke just didn’t have the strength to be very effective. Of course, I was pleasantly surprised again, the vibes are strong when Duke is used either vaginally or clitorally. Considering the girth of the vibrator, and the fact that it performs best when used with hard and fast strokes, I’m wondering if stronger vibes would actually be painful, and I appreciate Doc Johnson’s thoughtful vibration choices for this model.

I have found that Duke does its best work, like with any other toy, when used with a partner, and is a perfect toy for couples to enjoy together. The fact that Duke is waterproof as well makes the possibilities endless and cleanup the easiest part of the experience. Duke is one of the most versatile toys I've come across and worth every penny. A word or warning, however, is be careful to make sure you are adequately lubed or Duke will make you sore in the morning!
