Petite couture Patina - rabbit vibrator by Cal Exotics - review by Carrie Ann

What to say, what to say? This is my eighth piece from the Couture Collections so, you know, it's pretty obvious I like them.

Like all the CC pieces, the Patina is made from super squishy, plush silicone. Silicone is one of the safest materials around as you can very easily clean it either using soap and water, toy cleaner, wipes or even a 10% bleach solution if you want to sterilize for sharing. It has no scent or taste but it does tend to pick up pet hair and lint easily, so clean before and after use.

The CC silicone is smooth and supple, yet fairly matte in texture so you get a good bit of drag against your skin. Use a water based lube with this to get less drag, more glide. No silicone lubes unless you test them on an unobtrusive spot since they can react badly.

The Patina is a white silicone, very squeezable at the tip and in the rabbit attachment, a bit more firm thru the center of the shaft as that is where the motor is located. The tip is slightly pointed for ease of insertion and has a slight angle/curve to it -- as well as a very neat, unique little bump just beneath the tip that adds a nice bit of stimulation when thrusting against the g-spot. The shaft is 4.5 inches insertable, though the entire toy measures in at just over nine inches. Our little rabbitty attachment is a bit over two inches and situated nicely on the shaft. He has long, whippy ears, a bump for a nose and an extra bump along his "body" for a good bit of texture compared to many.

Because the 1.25 inch diameter shaft is a bit shorter than those of most dual stimulators the rabbit ears have no problem at all reaching my clitoris while in use. What a blessing! So many don't suit my anatomy, with their overly long shafts and low attachments. This one is nearly perfect. I'd like it even better if I could get the nose and extra bump to reach more easily but with some finagling, I can, so I will not complain overly. :)

The shaft on this also has a slightly raised ridge running down either side of it, vertically. It may give extra stimulation for some but, for me, it was not noticeable in use.

Controls, like all the CC rabbits, are via a push button control panel that lights up blue behind the buttons when turned on.

A dedicated on/off button turns the toy on and off.

A button with a wave design on it turns the vibrations on; one press for high, two for medium, three for high vibrations in the rabbit attachment. (The shaft does not really vibrate, though the vibes from the rabbit do transmit a bit to the lower end of the shaft.) A fourth press to the vibration button begins patterns, of which there are four; a slow pulse, an escalation, a fast pulse and a medium pulse that ends in a longish steady vibration. Fairly basic patterns but they feel very nice if you like a prolonged session along with the shaft rotations.

Which brings us to the third button and it's arrow design. This button starts the shaft rotations; one press for slow, two for medium, three for fast. The shaft really only rotates at the tip, perhaps the first two inches. The slowest rotation is quite easy to stop with even light clenching but the medium and fast hold up quite well even to firm clenching.

As with most rabbit style vibes, turning both rotation and vibration on high, simultaneously, will lessen the power a bit but not so much it stops feeling good and effective. Noise level is a bit less loud than many rabbits but still not super quiet and discreet. Can be heard thru covers but probably not thru both covers and a closed door.

The Patina runs on three AAA batteries which sit inside a removable battery harness under the o-ring sealed (hence water resistant) twist off battery cover. Remove them when not in use so they don't leak, corrode and ruin the interior of your toy.

I have taken this in the shower, though in water use is difficult with a water based lube. I would not recommend taking it in the bath as even though the battery chamber is sealed, I'm not sure how well the buttons would do submerged.

All in all, the Patina is another win for Cal Exotics and their Couture Collection. Nice, plushy silicone that is body safe over a good, strong motor for a price comparable to most jelly rabbits really can't be beat. The shorter shaft is a major bonus for those of us who normally struggle with this when it comes to rabbits and the shaft rotation, while not full of bells and whistles and beads, is very similar to the "c'mere" finger crook that is so stimulating to the G-spot.

Like the entire couture collection, the Patina is super. It's holding up really well, too.

I love that the white silicone doesn't discolor like white jelly type toys do!

Though I tend to be a size queen of sorts, I find I reach for this more often than I thought I would, simply because of it's shorter shaft.
