Not all vibrators need to be the star of the show when it comes to your playtime--sometimes, perhaps you would just like a toy to get things going or to enhance the main action to maximize your pleasure. The Light Shimmers Turbo Teaser is just such a toy, and while there are certainly better toys on the market, this one can, in fact, get the job done. It's not well made, and it has plenty of flaws, and it looks like it could double as a cat toy with its light up function and shape, but for less than $20, it's not such a loss.

The Light Shimmers Turbo Teaser from Cal Exotics is a remote controlled bullet that is connected by a plug-in style chord to the remote. It's made of smooth, textureless plastic and is shaped like a stubby bowling pin. The bullet is just a little over two inches in length from the top to its base. The base has an LED lighted ring around it which lights up during use. EdenFantasys offers this bullet in your choice of pink or blue lights; I have the blue one. The remote is about four and a half inches long with the attached cord that is 35 inches long. All in all, the length works well for the toy's use.

The bullet is small enough to work for pinpoint clitoral stimulation, and is also the perfect size for use during sex because it won't get in the way during penetration. In addition, the cord is long enough to hand over to a partner or to use yourself during sex. The remote fits nicely into the palm of a hand and is easy to use.

Unfortunately, the remote has a few issues. For starters, the slide control is located on the side of the remote and it feels backwards. It is not overly awkward and doesn't really hinder its performance all that much, but the feel of it is a little weird. The remote itself is mostly hollow for the three AA batteries that are required to make it work. Overall, it feels flimsy and poorly made. Honestly, the remote feels like it could be broken with very little force. In addition, the slide off battery compartment door feels like it could break with very little force. The bullet itself isn't as fragile as the controller, however, it certainly could have been made a bit sturdier. The cord comes packaged like most similar cords, folded up, and the kinks are still there, even after several uses.

When I first turned on the toy, I noticed that the cord makes a bit of a buzzing sound when it sits at a particular angle. Unfortunately, it sounds like the cord will short out at any time. In my opinion, this is probably because of the way the cord was packaged. I'm not sure how long this toy is going to last, and to be honest, if I don't accidentally break the cheaply made remote, the cord shorting out will probably bring about its early demise. It's unfortunate, because it didn't need to be packaged so poorly as to cause this problem in the first place.

While this teaser can be used for solo play, it is designed mainly for teasing (as its name suggests) teasing. Instead of being the star of the show, foreplay and enhancing stimulation during sex is what it's best used for. The buzzy vibrations are surprisingly strong, even on its lowest speed. It's quiet and small, and can't be heard through a closed door, even at its highest setting. For $16.99, this is not a bad investment, although, I am glad that I received this toy as review assignment instead of spending my hard earned cash or Eden Points on it. There are better toys in my collection, but there are also worse. We'll see in the follow up review how well the teaser will hold up over the months, but I don't have high hopes for its lifespan. If I don't roll over on the remote and shatter it, I have a feeling that the cord will short out. Time will only tell, I suppose.

This doesn't get a whole lot of action. I got a new clit vibe that is more discreet, sturdier, made of better material, and just all around more handy. I'll be living abroad soon, and I just can't see myself traveling with this thing--the controls are way too fragile. It's not an awful teaser, and the LED light up is neat enough. I think it makes a better beginner vibe, but I've since expanded my horizons. I'm still satisfied with the 3/5 stars I gave it, and it's not so much that I "don't like it anymore," as I just don't really use it any more.
