Cute and velvety but not too exciting.

The Risque Tulip really disappointed me. I rated it two stars only because I liked the material's satin feel. It is also waterproof. However, the vibrations are too weak, the toy is too thin, and the shape is not for everybody. Not to mention, it broke after a week.
Waterproof, smooth, quiet.
WEAK, not a satisfactory shape, and it kind of broke after two uses.

extremely useful review

Risque tulip is a traditional vibrator by California Exotics. I have a few toys by this company, and I was pretty excited when I got this one assigned. However, it wasn't as promising as I thought it to be. This toy can be used for penetration and for stimulation of those oh so sensitive areas, but the vibrations are too weak to provide that necessary excitement. I also found it to be too thin for lip-biting penetration. One might consider using it anally, but use caution because it doesn't have a flared base. I would recommend this toy for beginners, but there are definitely better options out there. You can use this toy for solo play or with a partner. One of the pros is that this toy is waterproof.

Material / Texture

One of the good qualities of this toy is its smooth velvety texture that feels amazing to touch. It is made from PU coated plastic. It rates a 7 on material safety. The components are ABS plastic with a coat of Polyurethane. It is latex and phthalates free. It doesn't have a smell to it. The toy feels very smooth and pleasant. I really think if the vibrations were stronger, it would be more pleasurable. The texture can be enjoyed by both beginner and advanced users.

Design / Shape / Size

The toy has an oval head and a prolonged base. It is 7 inches long (5 3/4 inches insertable) and 1 1/4 inches in diameter (3 1/2 inches circumference). The color is a pretty darker shade of blue, and the product page portrays it quiet accurately. The end of the toy is silver with a blue button to control the functions. For me, the toy proved to be too thin for enjoyment. I wouldn't recommend this toy for those users who enjoy girth and width. Beginner users might enjoy the size of this toy. It is easy to hide and store. It can be suitable for travel.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The package advertises 10 intense functions of vibration, pulsation, and escalation. For me, the vibrations seemed too weak. To be honest, I couldn't really distinguish between the vibration patterns because they were so low. I did feel it go from low to just a little bit stronger, but even the strongest vibrations were weak. However, it is very quiet. The vibrations are located at the head of the toy, and the base doesn't really vibrate. It is powered by 2 AAA batteries, which need to be inserted at the bottom of the toy. The base screws off, and there is a rubber ring providing good protection from water. To turn on the toy, you simply need to push the button, and then keep pressing to scroll through the vibrations. To turn the toy off, you need to press the button for 3 seconds. The toy is supposed to have a memory chip that resumes the vibrations on the last function. However, I couldn't really distinguish between the patterns, so I couldn't tell.

Care and Maintenance

This toy is very easy to take care of. It is waterproof, so you can wash it with warm water and soap, or you can use toy cleaners. I personally use EF toy wipes. It is compatible with water and silicone based lubricants. The size makes it easy to store and hide if necessary. I keep mine in my (long desired and finally purchased) Devine toy box.
    • Easy to clean
    • Easy to store

The toy came in a simple plastic package. It is not very discreet because it advertises "intense" vibrations. It is pretty small and can be used for storing the toy.
    • Good for storage

I personally did not enjoy this toy very much. I gave it two tries: on the bed and in the shower. The experience was frustrating, and I switched to different toys.
Also, after having it for a week, the ribbed plastic part in the battery compartment started to crack, and the metallic part bent after taking the batteries out.

Follow-up commentary
It broke after a week. The plastic opening to the battery compartment completely broke off in some places. Enough said.
