Misplaced power

The Tulip by Joya is a dual stimulation vibrator, that scores high marks for a design that will most likely work with all female anatomies. It offers strong, constant vibration that feels wonderful in tandem. If your lucky enough to get through a masturbation session without accidentally turning the vibrator off, I think you'll be pleasantly pleased.

Use

The Tulip is a dual stimulation vibrator with one motor in the main insertable portion, and one in the appendage meant for the clitoris. This multi-tasker can be used in several different ways. The Tulip can be worn under a harness providing extra stimulation. Joya suggests using the Tulip between two women to stimulate the clitoris of both participants. I found this is an exceptional toy for warming up before sex, it feels wonderful!

The dildo portion has a nice point to the tip and works very well for strong and direct clitoral stimulation as well. When using the Tulip as a dual vibe I found it fit my anatomy very well, stimulating my entire vaginal canal as well as my g-spot, while the clitoral portion sat perfectly on my clit. I particularly like applying pressure to the clit with a couple of fingers and moving the vibrator in a circular motion.

Material / Texture

This lovely little Tulip is made of 100% medical grade silicone. It is Latex and Phthalate free and is a great option for individuals looking for a hypo-allergenic vibrator. The Tulip, as the name implies, is designed to resemble a flower. It has portions of raised texture on the entire vibrator, some portions are swirls and some are made to look like petals. This texture provides a pleasant sensation, not over the top or painful.

The matte silicone is smooth and silky feeling and provides a bit of drag on the skin. I really appreciated that when it came to manually manipulating the clit stimulator. I do notice a faint chemical smell on the Tulip that I can't quite describe. I also can't distinguish if it's a carry over smell on the Tulip from the foam it resides in while not in use.

Design / Shape / Size

The Tulips design worked perfectly with my anatomy, it fit like a glove. The clitoral stimulator is generous in size making it very easy to get direct clitoral stimulation. I really was able to apply pressure to the clitoris and make different motions with my fingers, which added to the stimulation.

The size of the clitoral stimulator is one and a quarter inches across and two and a quarter inches long from the base of the shaft. The insertable portion is five and a quarter inches in length with four inches being insertable. The diameter is one and five eighths inches and provides a nice full feeling. The insertable portion is very firm with a hard core. Only the top inch or so is a bit squishy.

Functions / Performance / Controls

I have to say I was impressed by the strong vibrations produced by the Tulip. Both portions offer very direct, buzzy vibrations. In the shaft the vibrations are located about an inch from top, and the clitoral stimulator houses the motor toward the uppermost portion. Offering only one constant speed the Tulip runs on two AAA batteries.

There are two half circles on both sides of the vibrator toward the base, simply squeeze them and pop the bottom off to insert the batteries. Both portions of the vibrator run in unison and cannot be controlled independently. To turn the Tulip on you simply depress the very bottom of the base and it will click on, the same is done to turn it off.

This is where I have the biggest issue with the design and function of this vibe. Once inserted and turned on, should you decide to thrust or make any motion with the penetrating portion you have very little area to hold and manipulate. I tried to hold the outer portion of the base around the sides to move and thrust the vibrator. I ended up turning the vibrator off inadvertently with every couple of strokes.

I found the best way to use The tulip was to insert it and just manipulate the clitoral stimulator. Even with this annoying pitfall I did find the Tulip very enjoyable and honestly I don't know where else the designers would have been able to place the power button.

Care and Maintenance

The Tulip is not waterproof so care has to be taken when washing it with water and antibacterial soap. I recommend toy cleaning wipes as a safer option. Should you care to, you can clean the Tulip with a 10% bleach to water solution. The Tulip is silicone so unless you want a wilted flower, water-based lubricant is the safest bet.

Packaging

The Tulip arrived in very nice packaging! It resembles a hardback book. Once you open it you will find a very thick, dense, protective foam cradling your new vibrator. The book is perfect for longtime storage, although it is big and will take up some space. The text inside offers suggestions for use in several different languages.

Personal comments

This really is a beautiful vibrator that feels wonderful, both internally and externally. It would be a surefire favorite if not for the off and on again power button.

This is such a cute toy! It reminds me of when I was little and I had a fascination with plucking the petals off of flowers. I know, I'm special. Great review!

I thought that by the looks of the bullet placement it wouldnt be that effective but its good to know it can work very well. Great review.
