Nice While it Lasted

This product combines powerful vibrations and long battery life with a hard plastic, velvety exterior, but is very loud and of questionable durability.
Published:
Pros

Cons
Loud; stopped working after multiple sessions except at higher speeds.

This vibrator looks just like traditional torpedo vibrators that have been available for decades except that its a lovely shade of pink and has a delicious velvety feel to its exterior. It resembles a fat knitting needle. I'll let you look up how the Urban Dictionary defines knitting yourself.

It is phthalate and latex free and made of a safe hard plastic material. It's waterproof, a feature I tested extensively, allowing it several trials of vibrating in a sink full of water for several minutes. It has no odor at all.

Once the battery compartment is opened, a roll of cardboard with instructions on how to insert the batteries is revealed. DO NOT remove this cardboard. If you do the vibrator will be incredibly loud, vibrating with batteries knocking against the inside walls. It won't just be the cats who run from the room. Leave it this way and your roommates will wonder if you're using a lawn mower to groom yourself. The battery compartment cardboard also serves to help you remove the batteries later. Pulling the cardboard out pulls the batteries with it. I don't believe you can have vibrator with this much power without a certain decibel level. With the cardboard in, the power vibe is as loud as the Magic Wand when both are at their high setting.

Vibration intensity is controlled with a dial at the bottom of the vibrator. Usually vibrator dials require two hands to adjust but this one is nearly effortless to turn. I could easily manage adjusting the dial while thrusting/holding it with just one hand.

As you turn the dial, the speed increases, but not in a smooth fashion. After only a few uses, the toy developed a vibration dead zone. Vibrations increase steadily as you turn the dial, then at one point stop, but as you continue turning the dial you zoom to a much higher speed, like passing through the eye of a hurricane. The more I tested it, the wider the dead zone became. Eventually, after perhaps twenty sessions, the dead zone widened to the point were it only works at the highest end of the dial. It also changes vibration speed as you move and reposition it, even while keeping the dial at a constant setting.

I wrote to Love Honey to ask at what rpm the Power Vibe vibrates so I could offer a numerical comparison with the Magic Wand. They replied immediately with a lovely well-written email that they didn't have that information. One point for exemplary responsiveness. Its a little hard to judge since the Magic Wand has material around it for cushioning, but I believe the Power Vibe is approximately as strong as the Magic Wand on the low setting.

I thought that such strong vibrations would feel delightful inside me. This wasn't the case. With other straight vibrators I've been able to stimulate my g-spot but accomplishing that with this vibrator was less successful. The vibrations are quite strong, but somehow remain less effective than you would expect. It works well as a clitoral vibrator, but the hardness of the plastic detracted somewhat from that experience.

I tried leaving the Power Vibe inside me while using the Magic Wand outside. That was an excellent session, but I'm not sure how much the Power Vibe contributed.

The vibrations feel heavenly on your back and neck as long as you can ignore the loud sound. If you can talk your partner into using it on you for foot massage, where it's not close to your ears, that might be its best use.

I haven't noticed any decrease in vibrations even after multiple sessions leaving it running for long periods of time. There's the other advantage of its use of C batteries.

It arrives packaged in an attractive glossy cardboard box. Inside the vibrator nestles in a molded clear plastic insert. A brochure is included which describes related Tracey Cox products and has detailed usage instructions and suggestions.

This is an easy care product which needs only a little soap and water after each use. It is safe to use with both water and silicone based lubes.

Yes, they certainly deliver much more power than AA battery powered vibes.
