I'm usually not a fan of small massagers, but the Tryst from California Exotic Novelties showed me not to lose all hope just yet on these little buggers. It's not generously sized enough for serious thrusting, but it did erotically stimulate my nipples and inner thighs. Obviously, it felt the best on the clitoris and my vulva. Other than in the anal cavity, it can pretty much be used all over the body. Anyone could benefit from this toy in one way or another, but I find it best suited for someone who likes mild vibrations, beginner or not.

The majority of the Tryst is made of a light purple silicone, save for the plastic battery cover. It's thicker and squishier at the tip then thins out over a good portion of the harder handle. The texture is smooth all over, with the exception of some gentle "speed bumps" along the topside extending from the somewhat pointy (but rounded) tip down to mid-shaft. These ripples add some subtle sensation to the toy. As with most silicone toys, there is some drag to it, no smell, and no taste either.

It only measures about 7 inches long with roughly 4-1/2 inches of the shaft being the usable portion of the toy. There is about a 3-inch long flexible middle section between the tip and the handle, so that it can be maneuvered a little to better stimulate the area you are working on. For example, you could apply pressure with your index finger to slightly arc it. There's no flared base, so don't use it other than on the external anus if you wish to play back there. The diameter and circumference are both on the narrow side, but this toy isn't intended to be used for thrusting anyhow.

Function-wise, a motor of average intensity is located in tip of the Tryst and resonates quite well through the hollow middle portion of the toy. It runs very smoothly and is extremely quiet; in fact, I find that it rivals the sound level of some of the more expensive toys that I own. There are two pressure activated buttons: one to power it on and the other to cycle through the vibrations. This style of button is convenient and I've found it actually reduces the chance of accidentally switching modes or turning the toy off at an inopportune moment. The vibrations are as follows: low, medium, and high followed by 4 patterns, low to high tapping, pulsing, faster pulsing, ending with a "ta-ta-ta-taaaaaa" that repeats itself. There is no way to reverse the modes, but I found it very easy to cycle back through them.

Tryst is safe for waterplay thanks to a very secure battery cover and gasket covering the two-AAA batteries. An approved toy cleaner or just warm water and antibacterial soap will clean it up nicely. Use only water-base lube sparingly, as I found out too much makes it very slippery all the way down to the handle. It's discreet enough to carry in a purse or luggage, but not to leave laying around in plain sight.

The plastic packaging is small and clearly shows what's inside. So if you order one of these, it probably won't come in a huge shipping box and you certainly want to open it in private. Enjoy!

My partner and I tried out the Tryst as a foreplay toy, primarily to tease my nipples and warm up my clitoris. I was not able to achieve an orgasm with it alone, as I need stronger vibrations. I normally wouldn't keep such a small toy, but I think this one is a keeper.

I haven't used this one since my initial review, mostly because it's just too small and less effective externally on me than using a bullet or my Fairy massager.
