Silicone explorer sex toy review

I would give this toy three stars overall because it did give me an excellent orgasm, but I’m not psyched about how it’s put together.

Pros
Great vibration, and I really enjoyed the pulsing. Its also made of silicone, a big plus.
Cons
You can't sterilize it. The flexible head is put together poorly.

Through the review process, I’m slowly learning to not judge my sex toys by the cardboard box they come in. The corny “glow in the dark button!” or “flexible head moves with you!” catch-phrases on the outside, constantly turns me off by the types of advertising sex toys companies use on their products. But like most things, it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

After my Saturday afternoon shower, I spread my towel over the bedspread in high hopes for a wonderfully messy session. Fortunately, I wasn’t disappointed by the silicone explorer|Silicone explorer - Traditional vibrator. I wouldn’t recommend this toy for any wet environments (like showers) either. However, I did absolutely enjoy the seven functions this toy comes with, as it lets you warm up as slowly or quickly as you like. I had an amazing orgasm on function 5 and 6 (a series of quick pulses) and was able to continue my enjoyment with less intense functions 1, 2 and 3 (simple vibration). The other functions didn’t suit me as much but could find their place with others easily, I’m sure. “The roller coaster” function (as I like to call it) was disappointing because it wasn’t very strong. The most frustrating feature was that you can’t control the setting you were on with one button-push, you have to push one button multiple times. Imagine—“Oh, that was really nice. Oops, I pushed the button by accident! Damn, where was that other setting? Nope, nope, oh ok—there it is!”

A note about the manufacturing—since its clear its got nothing to hide so you can see exactly how that “flexible head” works. Its just two separate pieces of plastic connected with a wire. The lower most plastic piece is not glued to the base so it moves as well. I could see these pieces resulting in the ultimate demise of the toy, maybe a year or so from now with frequent use. Another thing to keep in mind—the “head” of this toys is the part that vibrates, so if you’re looking for intensity at your g-spot you have to be creative. Of course it’s advertised as “hygienically superior” silicone, although you can’t actually sterilize this sex toy because you can’t separate the electronic parts from the silicone. I would jut recommend hot water and anti-bacterial soap.

it doesn't rotate 360 degrees, but it is flexible, which comes in handy when you're looking for the allusive g-spot :)

Have you found the TPR silicone sleeve has acquired a yellow tint to it?
  • Contributor: Sex Hippie
Not so far, but I have to admit its not one of my most frequently used toys, and I've only had about 6 months or so.
