After lots of confusion and retrying, I found that the batteries need to be placed going opposite directions from each other. It's difficult to explain, but it most certainly does not look like that batteries would be placed that way. On the positive side, the toy is small and easy to hide, it is discrete enough for use just behind closed doors. It was very quiet, and I really appreciated that.

Overall, the performance of this toy was average. I think that's a pretty good rating for vibrators because there are lots that just don't do the job.
