This Dolphin Needs Rescuing

Fellow dolphin lovers, this Dolphin was not for me. Its price, construction, and performance failed to live up to the Flipper of my dreams.

Use

The Dolphin is a waterproof bullet vibrator for clitoral stimulation. It has been 9 months since I got this toy and though I used it as soon as I got it, it has taken me nearly a year to force myself to write a review on it. Life's been busy, but the primary reason I've been loathing writing this review was because I was so unimpressed by it. It is nearly $20, but I would not buy the Dolphin for anything less than $10. As far as my experience using it, the Dolphin did nothing for me. I used it three times just to be sure then tossed it.

Material / Texture

The Dolphin is body-safe, made from food-grade material, phthalates free, Latex free, and hypoallergenic. It is very light weight with the main "body" of the Dolphin made from rigid, shiny pink plastic and nose and side fins from silicone. The silicone parts of the Dolphin are glued on (you can see the glue) and after only one use, the nose-part began to peel around the edges. The silicone "teasers" did not really add anything extra for me and I ended up peeling them off (poor Dolphin!). There is a black wrist-let you can attach to the tail of the Dolphin, but I did not like that the wrist-let was fabric, so ended up no using it. The ridges in the Dolphin's body also make the wrist-let unnecessary because it is easy to get a grip on its body.

Design / Shape / Size

Overall, I did not like the design. I thought if it really wanted to be a Dolphin, it could have been cuter. I would have liked a different color--something more oceany like blue or green. I also did not like how the plastic was shiny and clear, I tend to think that makes toys look a bit cheaper and prefer opaque or matte toys. As I said before, the nose did not do much for me. The vibrations did not effectively reach the silicone fins and it bothered me that the silicone pieces were already starting to peel after so little use. For those who do like to tease a little though, the nose might feel nice on the nipples and clit. However, I'm more of a pressure girl myself. It's medium-sized for a bullet vibe, about 4 inches in length. The toy-like dolphin shape and small size make it very unsuspecting and suitable for travel.

Functions / Performance / Controls

The Dolphin only has one speed, which was surprising considering for a similar price you can find many multi-speed vibrators of higher quality. The vibrations are buzzy and strong, and though the entire Dolphin vibrates when on, the clear plastic shell protects your hand from the buzziness when holding it. It is fairly noisy and can easily be heard through my blankets, but perhaps not through a door. I tested it in the sink and it is waterproof, fully immersible.
    • Easy to use
    • Not very discreet

Care and Maintenance

The Dolphin stripped of its silicone is easy to care for. I can soap it up and wash it in the sink. I think the silicone parts have many creases and crevices, which might make it more difficult to clean effectively.
    • Easy to clean

Packaging

The Dolphin arrives in a clear plastic case. It is the typical dated toy packaging with the "hot" semi-nude female being sprayed with water. It does not come with instructions, only a "care of general electronic devices" booklet. I do not consider its packaging very giftable.

Personal comments

Overall--if it was not clear enough--I was disappointed with Dolphin and cannot recommend it. I think you can find so many better options for a bullet vibe around $20 that are made from better materials, offer multiple settings, more attractive packaging, and deliver a better experience. If the Dolphin had been $10, I would have given it two stars (it is made from safe materials afterall). If it had been under $10, then perhaps three stars. However, considering the other options available, it's a bit of a rip-off. Since I personally did not enjoy using the Dolphin and own better similarly priced bullet vibes in my arsenal, I have to give the Dolphin one star.
